Morgan Back to the Field

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades} Ewan Morgan led out for 350 from under the gun and found one caller in middle position, before the player on the button made it 2,100 to go. Morgan called and the middle-position player stepped aside.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and Morgan this time led for 2,300. His opponent made the call. The river landed the {6-Spades} and Morgan fired out 7,000. His opponent thought for a long time before moving his last 7,225 into the middle. Morgan called but his opponent flipped {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} which was good to take down the pot.

Easy come, easy go for Morgan as he slips back to the field with about 9,300 in chips.

Colman Starts Off Strong

Jay Kinkade raised preflop to 150, eliciting calls from Julius Colman in late position, another late-position player and both blinds. Action on the {K-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} flop checked to Colman, who bet 325. Two players called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Action again checked to Colman, who opted for a bet of 600. Only the small blind called.

On the river {8-Clubs}, the small blind checked and then called when Colman bet 1,500. Colman quickly turned over {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} for the ace-high flush, the second nuts. His opponent could not come up with a straight flush and mucked his hand.

Colman now has 14,000 in chips.

Morgan Claims Early Lead

Ewan Morgan
Ewan Morgan
Ewan Morgan has emerged as the chip leader after taking down a nice healthy pot in the early going. The board read {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and Morgan fired 4,500 on the river and his opponent made the call.

Morgan flipped an unlikely {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a backdoor flush to scoop the pot and now sits with 22,700 chips.

Yoyo Arrives

Jonny "Yoyo" Vincent
Jonny "Yoyo" Vincent
Another well known Australian, currently residing in Manila in the Philippines, Jonny "Yoyo" Vincent has just arrived and finds himself seated on the same table as Grant Levy.

Vincent was soon in the action as it was discovered that he had accidentally received an extra yellow 1,000 chip in his start bank. After some discussion with floor staff, the extra chip was removed from play.

"Damn, I never count my chips. How do I know I didn't start with only 9,000 in (APT) Manila?" laughed Vincent.

The Aussies Are Here!

There are a large contingent of Australians who have made their way to Macau to experience the poker growth in the Asian region. Some Aussies spotted in today's field include Grant Levy, Kent Hunter, Julian Powell, Jay Kinkade, Julius Colman, Tony Dunst, Celina Lin, Michael Pedley, Joel Dodds, Ewan Morgan and WSOP bracelet winner Mel Judah.

Who's Here?

We're poised for a larger field today than yesterday. Already at the start of play, 120 players are at the tables and tournament staff are expecting that as many as several dozen more will turn up before late registration closes.

Notables who are here on time this morning include Huck Seed, J.J. Liu, Mel Judah, Jay "Seabeast" Kinkade and Mike "Timex" McDonald.
