Must Be Nice

David Saab is running good.
David Saab is running good.
"It's ok," said David Saab upon seeing that his {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds} had been outflopped by an opponent's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} on a board of {Q-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}. Saab had re-raised preflop to 1,500 after his opponent opened to 700. His opponent called that raise, then checked the flop. It was a snap call once Saab moved all in.

"I've got two outs," Saab reminded his opponent. He hit one straight away with the turn {3-Hearts}. The river was the {9-Diamonds}, not a card that improved his opponent. As a result, Saab dragged the pot and is up to 18,000 in chips.

Sach Surviving

Ben Savage opened with a raise before a short-stacked Jim Sachinidis moved all in over the top for his last 2, 400 chips. Savage decided to make the call and tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, but Sachinidis had him dominated with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The board fell {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Sachinidis more than doubled up with his pair of queens, leaving Savage crippled.

Multi-way Madness Ends Antonio Fazzolari

Fazzolari Eliminated
Fazzolari Eliminated
After jumping out to the early chip lead, Antonio Fazzolari has now jumped the rail after finding himself eliminated.

Earlier, Fazzolari was involved in a monster multi-way pot that knocked him down to 4,000 in chips and it would be yet another mutli-way pot that would send him to the rail.

On a flop of {4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} Fazzolari, got all his chips in the middle with a flush draw holdig {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and found both Nathan Sawyers {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Angelo Scicchitano {4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} all too happy to make the call. Fazzolari wasn’t able to catch his flush as the board ran out {q-Spades}{6-Spades}, much to the delight of Sawyers, who tripled up to 8,000 with his flopped straight.

Pickering Emerges Through The Woods

Jamie Pickering

In a raised pot, three players took a flop of {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. David Griffiths checked to Tim Woods who fired out 1,500. Jamie Pickering bumped it up to 3,000 as Griffiths stepped aside. Woods made the call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Woods moved all in for his last 3,000 with Pickering snap-calling. He held a set of eights with {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to leave Woods in trouble with his {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The river landed the {5-Spades} to end Woods' day as Pickering surges up to 18,000 chips.

Putt Rockets Up

Graeme Putt recently eliminated two opponents. All of the money went in preflop, with one opponent showing down {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and the other showing down {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Putt had them both crushed, as he had been dealt pocket aces. Putt made two pair on a board of {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {9-Hearts} to drag the pot and increase his chip count to a robust 17,000.

Differing Fortunes

Event 1 is over for Michael Vartan.
Event 1 is over for Michael Vartan.
Luke Hodge and Michael Vartan found themselves in a similar situation. Each was short on chips. Hodge got his last 1,125 in the middle with {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} and was up against {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. Things looked grim for Hodge when the flop came {2-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and the turn {3-Hearts} didn't improve his hand. The river {Q-Hearts} saved Hodge, making a Broadway straight and the best hand. Due to dead money in the pot, his count climbed to 3,500.

Vartan, on the other hand, did not fare as well. He moved all in for 2,800 after an opponent opened with a raise to 700. Vartan's opponent made the call with ace-king; Vartan had two live cards, a queen and a ten. Each player made two pair on a board that ran out {A-?} {10-?} {4-?} {K-?} {Q-?}. Vartan's two-pair hand was second best. He has been eliminated.

Double Dunst

Tony Dunst
Tony Dunst
Tony Dunst was happy enough to race preflop as he found his chips in the middle with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} against an opponent's {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Dunst had his tournament on the line but the board was favourable as it landed {J-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to pair his ace and double up to 13,600 chips.

Richard Ashby on the Rail

Richard Ashby has just been eliminated and taken up a spot on the rail. A short-stacked Ashby got the remainder of his chips all in with {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, and an opponent with {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} made the call.

With the board blanking out {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, Ashby was eliminated.
