Event 14 - $2,200 No Limit Holdem (6 Handed)

Day 1 Completed

That's A Wrap

Day One Chip Leader James 'Andy McLEOD' Obst
Day One Chip Leader James 'Andy McLEOD' Obst
It's taken sixteen hours, but play has finally come to a conclusion. However, yet to arrive at the final table, twenty-four players will return tomorrow to battle it out for the first prize of AU$130,021.

Joe Hachem, Phil Laak, Michael Binger and Yevgeniy Timoshenko all came and went, but it would be Adelaide youngster and online gun James 'Andy McLEOD' Obst to emerge as the chip leader going into day two with 449,000 in chips.

Still a long way from the final table the twenty-four players will return tomorrow at 2:00pm local time to continue playing in Event #14: $2,200 No Limit Hold'em Six-Handed.

Paul Foltyn Becomes Our Bubble Boy

Our Bubble Boy!
Our Bubble Boy!
It was a battle of blinds to see Paul Foltyn eliminated on the bubble. Foltyn moved all in from the small blind holding {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and was called by James Obst in the big blind holding {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

The board fell {Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs} to see Foltyn head to the rail just one short of the money as Obst finished the day with 450,000 in chips.

It's Getting Late

With play verging on its sixtenth hour of play, players and staff are visibly tired.

Most recently a dealer brought in the antes and instead of dealing cards he dealt out a flop. Immediately all the players pretended to go all in on the flop of {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The dealer however was forced to re-shuffle and deal the hand out again.

This PokerNews blogger believes that the action should have been binding, therefore forcing all five players on the table to be all in when the next hand was dealt. Unfortunately, no one supported my idea.

Binger Doubles

Nick Binger has found a double to 11,000 when his {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} in the small blind held up against the big blind's {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} when the board fell {2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Binger is now sitting on the button with only a little above his starting stack.

We're on the Bubble

We are currently on the bubble as play now goes into hand-for-hand play.

There are currently three short-stacks, so the bubble may burst sooner rather than later.

Paul Ravesi Eliminated

Paul Ravesi opened to 9,400 and Sam Higgs moved all in. It slowly folded round to Ravesi who eventually made the call.

Ravesi: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Higgs: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board fell {5-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to see the one-time chip leader Ravesi exit to the rail just two places short of the money. Higgs has now climbed to 205,000 in chips.

Mednis Cripples Dymling

Jason Mednis opened to 6,500 and Niclas Dymling made the call in position.

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} Mednis led for 9,000 before Dymling put him all in. Mednis made the call and tabled {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} to be behind Dymling's {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The turn was a disaster for Dymling when it landed the {A-Hearts} and the river fell the {K-Diamonds} sending Mednis to 100,000 as Dymling slipped to 13,000 in chips.
