Madsen Starts Well in Stud

Stud:

The first major pot of this final table has gone to Jeff Madsen after some interesting early street betting.

After Michael Binger was the bring-in with the {2-Clubs}, Madsen completed next to speak with the {2-Spades}. Chris Ferguson called with the {6-Spades} as did Alexander Kostritsyn before Tino Lechich raised to 4,000 with the {9-Hearts}. Madsen called but Ferguson then put in another raise to 6,000. Kostritsyn folded and Lechich and Madsen both called once more.

Ferguson then led the betting on fourth and fifth streets, before sixth street was checked around. When the river was dealt, Madsen was the aggressor with both opponents making the call.

Madsen was the only one to reveal his cards, showing the nut flush on sixth. Here are the boards:

Madsen: ({K-Spades}{J-Spades}) {2-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{A-Spades} ({4-Clubs})
Ferguson: (X-X) {6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} (X)
Lechich: (X-X) {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} (X)

Madsen is now up to nearly 70,000 chips.

Kostritsyn Scoops

Stud Hi/Lo:

Alexander Kostritsyn has just scooped a nice stud hi/lo pot against Joe Hachem. Hachem was showing {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and led the betting until the river, where he checked to his opponent.

Kostritsyn was showing {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and fired a bet which Hachem called. Kostritsyn flipped {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for pair of aces for the high and an eight low, which was good as Hachem sighed and mucked.

Hachem Hanging Out for Hold'em

Stud Hi/Lo:

It hasn't been a good stud hi/lo round for Joe Hachem. After getting quartered in a pot with Chris Ferguson, the two men tangled again a few minutes later.

Hachem completed and led on fourth street before Ferguson put in the raise. Hachem called, and then led the betting again on fifth street. Ferguson called and then took over on sixth after showing a pair of aces. The river was checked down and the cards revealed:

Hachem: ({3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}) {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Ferguson: ({4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}) {8-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

Ferguson had a pair of aces with a queen kicker for the high and the only low to scoop the pot as Hachem bemoaned his luck to the rail saying that his opponent had "only caught the case ace."

Hachem slips to 52,000 and will be thankful to get back to hold'em.

Kostritsyn Surges in Hold'em

Alexander Kostritsyn
Alexander Kostritsyn
Hold'em:

Alexander Kostritsyn is now our chip leader much to the delight of his fan club, who are back on the rail today to applaud him to victory.

He first collected a nice pot against Jeff Madsen after Madsen folded to pressure on the turn on a board of {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Soon after, in a three-way pot, Kostritsyn, Zac Fellows and Tino Lechich saw a flop of {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Kostritsyn bet from the small blind, Lechich raised and Fellows folded. Kostritsyn made the call. The turn was the {9-Spades} and Kostritsyn check-raised with Lechich calling. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Kostritsyn led again, with Lechich this time putting in the raise. Kostritsyn put in the third bet and Lechich called.

Kostritsyn tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for the flush as he raked in one of the largest pots of the tournament. He's up to over 120,000 now with Lechich slipping to the short stack.

Madsen Moving

Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen
Hold'em:

Michael Binger raised from the button before Jeff Madsen reraised from the small blind. Chris Ferguson then put in the fourth bet from the big blind as Binger stepped aside. Madsen called.

The flop was {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Madsen check-raised the bet from Ferguson, who called. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and again Madsen fired. Ferguson made the call. The river brought the {2-Spades} and Madsen went for a third barrel which Ferguson called.

Madsen tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for top two, as Ferguson flashed {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and mucked. Both players now sit with around 90,000 chips.

Set and Flush Draw Not Enough for Kostritsyn

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Alexander Kostritsyn has taken a hit in a clash with Jeff Madsen. The game was Omaha hi/lo and after a flop of {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} things got interesting. The action was capped before the {Q-Spades} hit the turn. Kostritsyn led from the big blind before Madsen raised once again. Kostritsyn called, and again called the river bet when it fell {7-Hearts}.

Kostritsyn tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a flopped top set that had turned into a flush, however Madsen revealed {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for the nut flush to take it down.

Kostritsyn slips to 86,000 with Madsen up to 120,000.

Four Players Grab a Slice

Omaha Hi/Lo:

A huge four-way pot has resulted in everyone grabbing a share of the pie. Michael Binger was all in by the turn and Tino Lechich had committed his last chips by the river, with Zac Fellows and Alex Kostritsyn looking them up.

The board read {6-Spades}{K-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and the cards were tabled:

Kostritsyn: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Fellows: {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Lechich: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Binger: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Binger's set of kings held to take the high of the main pot as Kostritsyn actually made a loss with his set of sixes to collect the high of the side pot. Fellows and Lechich chopped the low as all players survived!

Sets Are Easy

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Alexander Kostritsyn and Jeff Madsen got into a raising war on a flop of {2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The action was capped before the {10-Clubs} hit the turn. Kostritsyn bet and was called before he fired another 5,000 on the {9-Clubs} river. Madsen made the call but Kostritsyn flipped {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds} to scoop with a set of kings, as Madsen flashed {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}-X-X and mucked.

As Kostritsyn raked in the pot, Tino Lechich quipped, "That easy to hit sets!"

Hachem Finds Some Razzle Dazzle

Razz:

Joe Hachem is back to nearly 80,000 after making an eight low in razz to take the pot against Jeff Madsen.

Madsen led on fourth and fifth streets, before sixth street was checked. Hachem took over on the river with a bet and Madsen made the call.

Hachem: ({A-?}{4-?}) {3-?}{9-?}{8-?}{8-?} ({5-?})
Madsen: (X-X) {A-?}{2-?}{10-?}{2-?} (X)
