Billy "The Croc" Argyros is famous for his success in H.O.R.S.E. events in this country, but it wasn't to be today after he was recently eliminated. In a hand of Stud H/L, Crocky was showing plenty of paint on his board but couldn't get past the full house of Jeff Madsen who revealed () () for the high as Jeff Lisandro collected the low with a seven-low.
The game was Stud, and the victim, David Morton. Our Victorian Championships H.O.R.S.E. winner has been thrown from his saddle.
We caught the action on fifth street with Jeff Lisandro leading the betting. Morton raised, and Lisandro put in another raise. Morton called and was all in for his last 800 on sixth, as the boards were tabled as follows:
Morton: ()
Lisandro: ()
Lisandro's sevens and sixes took the chocolates as Morton could only manage a pair of nines and was eliminated.
We caught the action on sixth street with Mel Judah all in for his last 700 chips. Zach Fellows called before Jason Gray raised to 1,900. Fellows called again, before betting the river. Gray made the call. The boards were as follows:
Gray: ()
Fellows: ()
Judah: (X-X) (X)
Fellows' straight was good for the high and the low as he scooped the entire pot to send Judah to the rail in 19th place. Fellows has followed up his deep Main Event run with another fine performance as he currently leads with 55,000 chips.
Tony G was short-stacked and had committed all of his chips by fourth street in a hand of Stud. His opponent was David Bach, but the boards didn't favour the "G" as they were spread:
Bach: () ()
Guoga: () (X)
Bach made trips on the river leaving Guoga drawing to a club but he missed as he mucked and headed to the exit.
Meanwhile at the same time Graeme Putt was eliminated during Hold'em on the feature table. With his elimination we're down to 19 players.
Gary Benson is the latest to bite the dust after a big hand in Hold'em against Lee Nelson and Sam Khouiss. The action was capped preflop before Benson was all in on the turn. Nelson and Khouiss continued a betting barrage until Nelson forced a fold from Khouiss on the river.
The board read and Nelson revealed a well disguised for the straight as Benson's hit the muck.
It was a round of Stud H/L that finally saw the end of Dan Shak from today's H.O.R.S.E. event. He'd committed his last chips by fourth streets in a pot against Jeff Madsen with the boards running out as follows:
Madsen: () ()
Shak: () ()
Neither player made a low with Shak's best high-hand, a pair of eights. Madsen showed running trip tens to collect the pot and eliminate Shak.
