Larry Karambis In A Familiar Spot
Larry Karambis In A Familiar Spot
Larry Karambis may not be a name that rings a bell to most people but he is certainly one to watch.

Hailing out of Houston, Texas, Karambis, final tables and the Aussie Millions have a lot in common. In this same event last year, Karambis finished third behind Michael Pedley and Robert Wang earning him a payday of AU$57,860.

Sitting third in chips at the moment, Karambis will be looking to best his previous effort and capture the first prize of AU$160,326 and the coveted gold ring.

Mizzi Flexes Muscle

Sorel Mizzi entered the pot with a raise to 10,800 from the button. With Clark Hamagami in the small blind he decided to reraise to 30,000 total. With the big blind out of the way Mizzi asked for a count, but before Hamagami could finish Mizzi moved all in.

Hamagami looked back down at his 100,000 stack and relinquished his hand as Mizzi shot up to 180,000.

A short-stacked Rayan Nathan moved all in from the small blind for his last 24,000 and was snap-called by Larry Karambis in the big blind.

Nathan: {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Karambis: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The flop left Nathan with some additional outs when it fell {J-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} but when the turn and river fell the {2-Diamonds} and {7-Spades} we lost Nathan in 6th place for AU$30,607 as Karambis moved up to over 180,000.

Clark Can't Find Break

With the action folding round to Clark Hamagami in the small blind he cut out a raise to 11,000 and slid it into the middle. Mark Kassis then threw in the needed chips and both players saw the flop.

{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} landed and Hamagami carefully counted out a bet of 15,300. Kassis stared at the board for a little before grabbing a stack of 20,000 in each hand and slamming them on the table. Facing the 40,000 raise, Hamagami layed his hand down as Kassis moved up to 172,000 in chips with Hamagami slipping to 130,000 in chips.

Karamalikis Kicks On

Jonathan Karamalikis opened to 10,500 from middle position and found callers in Clark Hamagami on the button and Rayan Nathan out of the big blind.

On a flop of {J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} Nathan checked and Karamalikis led out for 22,000. Clark tanked for over a minute before making the call as Nathan passed.

The turn fell the {3-Diamonds} and Karamalikis slid out a bet of 48,000. Hamagami checked his cards once again before mucking as Karamalikis moved up to 240,000 in chips.

Mizzi Back on Top

Mizzi is now sitting on 155,000 chips after nearly becoming the table short-stack.
