Mad About Busting

Chip leader Con Angelakis has just claimed another victim in Mikkel Madsel.

Angelakis opened the pot with a raise to 6,000 from early position. Action then folded around to Madsel on the button who reraised all in for about 19,000 total. Angelakis made the call and tabled {Q-Spades}{2-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, to find himself up against Madsel's {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

The ensuing board ran out {K-Spades}{4-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{J-Diamonds} giving Angelakis a spade flush to knock Madsel out of the tournament in 13th place ($2,000 AUD).

Gutch Comes Through in the Clutch

Ryan Gutch got his last 32,000 or so into the middle before the flop holding {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts} against Oliver Gill's {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Note that the only two cards separating the two hands were Gutch's seven and Gill's ace.

The ensuing flop came down {7-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} giving Gutch trip sevens to take the lead in the hand.

The turn brought the {A-Spades} giving Gill a couple of outs to steal the pot back, but the river blanked ({4-Spades}) and Gutch took down the pot with trip sevens, improving to 68,600 on the day.

Gill dropped back down to 129,000 in chips after the hand.

Reading Sampieri's Soul

Michael Sampieri put in a raise to 3,500 and was called by Oliver Gill in the small blind. As he called, Gill said to Sampieri, "Your hands are shaky. You have a big hand."

Flop: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}

Gill checks and Sampieri made it 10,000. Gill then asked Sampieri how much he had left. Sampieri said nothing but our reporter counted about 18,000 behind. Gill went into the tank, folded, and showed {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Spades}{Xx}. As he mucked, Gill said, "show me aces with the nut flush draw."

And with that, Sampieri rolled over {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Gill dodged some bullets that time.
