Crown Aussie Millions Feature Bounty Event: Boba Fett's dream tournament!
Crown Aussie Millions Feature Bounty Event: Boba Fett's dream tournament!
Another day in Melbourne Town, and PokerNews is back in Crown to bring you all that's going down in Event #5 of the Aussie Millions: the $1,650 Feature Bounty Event!

This highly-popular tournament format is certain to generate a juicy prize pool and bring in poker's finest up against plenty of hopefuls who are looking to score some cash and perhaps a tall tale or two to tell their mates down at the pub.

The tournament starts as a multi-table freeze-out, moving to a shootout format when 32 players remain. One player on each table is allocated as a "bounty": the player who eliminates the bounty will receive a healthy AUD $1,000 from the prize pool!

So be sure to stick with us, as we bring you all the suck-outs, sweats and superstars live from the Crown Poker Room in 30 minutes' time!

Shuffle Up and Deal!

A huge field is here this afternoon and the queue to enter still stretches as far as our media desk which is a good 30 metres away from the tournament booth!

However the cards shall wait for no late entrant as this one is underway!

It's a Stacked Field Today!

The queue is not getting any shorter as there are still 50 or so people waiting to buy in to this event!

Some of those who were clever enough to get here on time and are already in their seats in the cash game area of the Crown Poker Room include Jonathan Karamalikis, Hai Bo Chu, Brendan Edmonds, Jackie Glazier, Aaron Benton, Marsha Waggoner, Jai Kemp, John Tabatabai, Todor Kondevski, Sam Khouiss, Billy "The Croc" Argyros, Daniel Neilson, Ben Delaney, Andrew Jeffreys, Jay Rosenkrantz, Dan Morris, Jan Suchanek, Damien Elsing, Gary Benson and Stewart Scott.

Many of those guys have been given the honor of being a "bounty" in today's event, however interestingly defending Aussie Millions champ Stewart Scott is actually not a bounty today.

"They didn't ask me?" sighed Scott when we asked him why he wasn't a bounty today.

"He didn't have enough credentials to be a bounty," laughed Daniel Neilson from a nearby table.

Brkvoic Busts One Early

'Banana Thief' commits grand larceny early on
'Banana Thief' commits grand larceny early on
As we continued our trek around the tables noting down the eleventy billion players that are in today's field, a tournament director nodded in our direction and pointed at table 42.

We rushed over to see a board that read {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and found Alex 'Banana Thief' Brkovic and an opponent with all their money in the middle.

The cards were revealed - the opponent showed {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a flopped set but Brkovic tabled {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flopped straight!

The opponent is busto; Brkovic is on 19,500 in chips.

Do I Know You From Somewhere?

As late entrants continue to pile in, we've noticed quite a few recognizable faces.

Some notables in the field today are Tony Hachem, Shane Warne, Eric Assadourian, Lee Nelson, Vanessa Selbst, Michael Guzzardi, James "Jabba" Broom, Chuck Danielsson, Brendon Rubie, Peter Aristidou, and Con Tsapkounis.

Huntly Eliminated

Dennis Huntly just walked past the media desk and advised us that he was eliminated at the hands of Mike Ivin.

As Huntly recalled, he got the last of his money in the middle on a board of {k-?}{q-?}{7-?}{4-?} with {q-?}{j-?}. However Ivin called him down with {k-?}{q-?} for top two pair.

"I was a non-believer," said Huntly. "The river bricked and I'm busto." Ivin is up to 23,000.

Grunter Arrives, Cabret Departs

Another late arrival is Grant Levy who is not a bounty today but has found himself at a interesting table that includes Sam Khouiss, Manny Stavropoulos, Sherrie Gelberg and Todor Kondevski.

Another tough table has just got a little easier as Joe Cabret is an early elimination after going with his {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} against an opponent's {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The board ran out {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Hearts} to see Cabret depart the table of Dave Lee, Billy "The Croc" Argyros and the bounty of Ben "CNT_CRUSHER" Delaney.

Gao All But Gone

It was heads-up between Reza Vakili and Jie Gao on a flop that read {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}; Vakili led out for 2,250 and Gao called, before calling Valiki's bet of 3,075 on the turn of the {3-Clubs}.

On the river {a-Hearts}, Vakili pushed all-in for 4,550. Gao went deep into the tank before DeucesCracked sensei and table bounty Vanessa Selbst called time.

Gao eventually made a crying call, tabling {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} but lost all but 500 of his chips to Valiki who showed {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the flush. Valiki is up to 20,000.
