Steicke Takes One Down

Preflop, David Steicke from the big blind made it 1,800 to go and Julian Cohen in the small blind made the call.

Flop: {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Cohen checked-called Steicke's bet of 1,800 and the two went to the turn.

The turn brought the {6-Clubs}. Cohen bet 2,700 and Steicke came along to the river.

The two checked the {4-Spades} river.

Cohen showed {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Steicke took down the pot with {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a pair of aces.

Dwan Knocks Out Rubie

Brendon Rubie got all in for 12,200 against Tom "durrrr" Dwan preflop. They were off to the races, as Rubie held pocket sevens and Dwan had {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

The board rolled out {j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Dwan knocked out the young up and coming local on his way back to 73,200.

The Poker Star Loses Her Shine

Amanda De Cesare, the winner of Joe Hachem's Australian reality TV series, The Poker Star moved her last 12,000 into the middle holding pocket nines from late position, but John Overbeek woke up with pocket kings in the small blind.

The board ran out {2-?}{8-?}{10-?}{a-?}{3-?}; De Cesare was sent to the rail and Overbeek is up to 61,000 in chips.

Multi-tabling

According to one of our reporters, Gus Hansen took out his laptop on the last 15-minute break and played a little $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha on Full Tilt Poker.

It's definitely multi-tabling in a different sense and maybe he's just not getting enough action at his tournament table.

A True Poker Face

Luke Thomas raised it up to 2,600 from middle position and Tom "Durrrr" Dwan made the call from the cut off. The two players saw a {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, and Thomas led out for 2,300. Dwan, as he has most of the day put his foot on the peddle and bumped it up to 8,400 straight.

Thomas made the call, and both players checked the {2-Clubs} on the turn. When the {6-Spades} hit on the river, Thomas bet out 9,000 and Dwan went deep into the tank; six minutes worth of tanking to be exact. The entire time Thomas stared directly at Dwan as confident as could be without as much as flinching. Dwan, on the other hand, sighed numerous times while deciding what he should do. Finally Dwan made the call, and Thomas showed him pocket tens. Dwan mucked, shaking his head a few times in disbelief. He is down to about 60,000.

Thomas is up to about 67,000.

Sharing is Caring

The action folded around to Barny Boatman who raised to 1,700 preflop before Damian Harman made the call in the small blind.

The big blind also called, but folded after Harman led out for 2,500 on the flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Boatman called and both players checked the turn of the {10-Clubs}.

On the river {4-Diamonds}, Harman fired out 3,000, sending Boatman into the tank for around two minutes before making the call.

Harman rolled up {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Boatman showed down {a-Spades}{k-Spades} - chop it up, boys!

Siu KO'ed by Korman's Quads

Jimmy Siu moved the last of his money into the middle preflop holding {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, only to run into the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} of Sam Korman.

The board was spread {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades} - well, at least you can say Siu was eliminated in style.

Korman is up to 65,000 in chips.

Ghezelbash's War

On a board reading {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Ali Ghezelbash checked and Warwick Mirzikinian threw in a bet of 5,000. Ghezelbash shoved his remaining chips in the middle and put his tournament life at stake and Mirzikinian made the call.

Ghezelbash turned over {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Mirzikinian tossed his cards in the muck.

Steicke Straightens His Opponent

David Steicke, who we overheard saying was not going to even play the Main Event due to a prior commitment is now up to 96,000.

He raised to 1,700 UTG and was called by the player directly to his left. The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Steicke popped out a continuation bet of 2,600 only to see his opponent raise it up to 6,700. Steicke made the call, and they were off to the turn, which was the {j-Hearts}.

Stecke checked and insta-called a 10,000 bet, and when the {8-Diamonds} dropped on the turn, he decided it was time to do some betting of his own, firing out a 21,000 bet. His opponent tanked for a bit, before calling and then mucking when he saw Steicke's {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a rivered straight.

Mizzi Making Moves

Mizzi: the only way is up!
Mizzi: the only way is up!
Our reporter caught the action on a board of {q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Clubs} between Sorel Mizzi and another opponent, with Mizzi having fired out a bet of 2,500 on the turn.

The opponent raised to 6,400 and Mizzi called before checking the {4-Hearts} on the river. The opponent then led out for 8,225 but Mizzi check-raised him all in.

The opponent called all-in, only to muck when Mizzi revealed {a-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for trips. Another one bites the dust and Mizzi moves to the top of the counts with 140,000 in chips.
