Salvaging the Day

Ben Savage has just chipped back up to his Day 2 starting stack after a recent double up, climbing back up to 17,000.

Savage got it all in holding {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} against an opponent's {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and the board ran out queen-high, allowing Savage's ace to hold and take down the pot.

Hansen's Hand Holds For a Double

Gus Hansen got all his chips in preflop against Pierre Aoukar. Gus was ahead with {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} against Aoukar's {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

The board came down {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Hansen is up to 95,000.

Pierre Aoukar on the other hand, who came in as the chip leader continues to slide and is now on less than 50,000.

Shortly after the hand the feature table was broken. At this point it is completely empty, with the exception of a dealer.

I'm Lee'vin On a Jet Plane

Team PokerStars Pro Lee Nelson has just been eliminated from the main event by Michael Shinzaki.

Nelson opened the pot with a raise to 2,700 and when the action reached Shinzaki, he moved all in, putting Nelson to a decision for all of his chips. Nelson made the call holding {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} and found himself in bad shape against Shinzaki's pocket nines.

The ensuing board ran out {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{A-Clubs} and Shinzaki ended up taking down the pot on the strength of his nine-kicker.

After the hand, Shinzaki stacked up 160,000 in chips.

James Keys Unlocks A Royal Flush

All we heard was commotion, followed by a crowd that rushed to the feature table. The board read {6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Keys was collecting a sizable pot. Keys' opponent had a set of aces, but Keys had every poker player's dream hand a royal flush, with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

His opponent was good natured about it, realizing that although he was out, he had been busted in style.

Keys is over the 100,000 mark.

[Removed:198] Climbs to 110k

The man with two of the same name, [Removed:197], has improved to 110,000 in chips, earning about 20,000 of them in the following hand:

[Removed:198] opened with a raise to 2,700 from the cutoff holding {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and was called by Matthias Kluge on the button. The flop came down {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and [Removed:198] fired a 3,400 continuation bet. Kluge made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and [Removed:198] fired again, this time making it 5,400 to play. Kluge, holding {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}, continued to float, taking the hand to the river -- {9-Diamonds}.

[Removed:198] checked on the end, prompting Kluge to take an 8,000 stab at the pot. [Removed:198] wisely looked him up and Kluge tossed his {K-Hearts}{J-Spades} into the muck.

Nielson Down a Few

Daniel Neilson got it all in preflop versus his opponent.

Nielson tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} while his opponent turned over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

The board was no help for Neilson when it came down {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Nielson is down to 35,000 in chips while his opponents stack got a little bit bigger.

Dan Shak Mis-Clicks

Dan Shak, coming off his recent high-roller title earlier this week is riding a rush of run-good. He bumped it up to 16,000 preflop, clearly a mistake and was met with an all-in shove by an opponent, who had about 26,000. Shak made the call and flipped over {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and was behind his opponents {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

The board put Shak in the lead as it came down {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

After the hand, Shak apologized saying "sorry, I misclicked. When you run good, you run good." He followed that by stating, he meant to make it 3,100 and that he was overtired.

Sorry Mr. Shak, this was too good of a hand to leave out. Shak is now sitting on about 145,000.

Aoukar Doubles Through Dodds

ON the flop of {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Pierre Aoukar checked to an opponent who bet. After the player bet, Joel Dodds raised. Aoukar then reraised all in for 76,500. The first player to bet folded and then Dodds made the call.

Dodds: {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Aoukar: {9-Spades}{5-Spades}

Aoukar's two pair held up against the draws that Dodds held after the turn came the {8-Spades} and the river the {A-Spades}.

Aoukar is up to 150,000 while Dodds dropped to 80,000.

Dratsas Rakes in a Pot

The board read {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{j-Spades} when we came up on this hand.

Kosmas Dratsas check-called a 4,200 bet from his opponent and the two went to the river.

The river brought the {8-Hearts} and Dratsas made a bet of 5,500 only to have his opponent make it 17,500. Dratsas went into the tank.

"I've hit. I' don't think you've hit," he said before making the call.

Dratsas flipped over {k-Spades}{4-Spades} and his opponent turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Dratsas is now up to 105,000.
