Double Up for Friedlander

Steve Friedlander raised from under the gun to 31,000 before Peter Jetten three-bet to 80,000 from the next seat. Action folded back over to Friedlander and he called.

The flop came down {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Friedlander shoved all in for 193,000. Jetten made the call with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Friedlander held {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and put Friedlander in the lead. The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Friedlander doubled up. Jetten slipped to 960,000.

2 million... not 5, Annette... not yet, anyway.
Annette Obrestad raised to 28,000 from the cutoff seat and Stephen Shelly called from the big blind.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Shelly checked. Obrestad bet 35,000 and Shelly made the call.

The turn card added the {9-Spades} to the board. Both players checked.

The river was the {K-Diamonds} and Shelly checked. Obrestad fired 75,000 and Shelly called, only to muck his hand after he saw the {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs} of Obrestad.

Obrestad is up to two million now while Shelly dropped to 1.5 million.

Here Comes Dodds

Didn't someone say something in the shoutbox about Joel Dodds not being able to go anywhere in this event given the stack he entered Day 4 with? Well, he's up to 1.12 million now.

Sorel Mizzi raised to 28,000 and then Joel Dodds three-bet to about 80,000. MIzzi moved all in and Dodds made the call.

Dodds: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Mizzi: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The flop came down {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Mizzi stayed in the lead. The turn card was the {8-Clubs} and Dodds still needed help. He found it after the {K-Clubs} spiked on the river and the crowd upstairs erupted in cheer.

Dodds is over one million while Mizzi dropped to 1.1 million.

Shows Not Over Yet

Peter Jetten raised to 28,000 and Steve Topakas called from the big blind. On the flop of {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Topakas checked. Jetten bet 100,000 to put Topakas all in and Topakas quickly called.

Topakas: {K-Spades}{3-Spades}
Jetten: {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the river the {K-Diamonds}, keeping Topakas in the game. He's now up to 150,000 chips and not dead yet.

Topakas Not Out Yet

Steve 'The Big Show' Topakas
Steve 'The Big Show' Topakas
Steve Topakas moved his last 30,000 or so into the middle on the next hand following his big confrontation with Kosta Varoxis. Steven Friedlander made the call from the button.

Friedlander: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Topakas: {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

"Come on, Steve!" yelled the fans rooting for Topakas from the balcony above.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Topakas made three jacks to double back up. He's back up to about 90,000 now.

Topakas was short yesterday and did this multiple times to stay alive. It might be another stressful day for Topakas if he has to keep surviving all ins, but everyone up on the balcony is rooting for him to do so.

The Big Show Knocked Down

Steve Topakas raised all in from the cutoff seat and Kosta Varoxis called from the button. When the hands were revealed, here's what everyone saw.

Topakas: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Varoxis: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

What's interesting about this is that the last card dealt to Varoxis was accidentally flipped over by the dealer, revealing the {K-Spades}. Varoxis' first card was the {Q-Spades}, meaning he would've had {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} instead of pocket queens.

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Topakas was knocked down to just 33,000. Varoxis moved up to 285,000.

Dawley: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Kerper: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The crowd was begging for a three to come and keep Dawley in the mix. The flop was dealt {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Kerper stayed in front.

The turn card was the {7-Spades} and then the river the {4-Spades}. Dawley was sent to the rail in 17th place, capping off her amazing run with $75,000 AUD in prize money.

Kerper Has Nothing to Show

On the turn, the board read {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Joel Dodds checked and Jens Kerper bet 44,000. Dodds made the call.

The river card completed the board with the {3-Hearts} and Dodds checked. Kerper bet 64,000. Dodds mucked and Kerper immediately mucked his hand. Dodds didn't show and scooped in the pot. He's up to 410,000 now while Kerper dropped to 670,000.
