Gipson Got It

Level 6

No Limit Hold'em

Keith Gipson just saw his tournament life on the line after shoving for his remaining 5,875 and receiving a call from Andy Bloch.

Gipson: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Bloch: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} allowing Gipson to double through Bloch and move up to a healthy 13,000.

One Gone

Level 6

Pot Limit Omaha

Our PokerNews reporter came to the table just in time to see the first bust out of the tournament.

With the flop showing {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Jan Suchanek had led for a 3/4 pot size bet. Eli Elezra called to his left before the action was sent around to Robert Williamson III who moved allin for his remaining 6,800. Suchanek made the call and Elezra got out of the way.

Williamson III: {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Suchanek: {q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Williamson was in front for now but Suchanek would hit the {2-Hearts} on the turn to move in front with a flush. The river would brick and Williamson would be the first man out.

Cheung Flushes Out Steicke

Level 6

Pot Limit Omaha

We caught the action between David Steicke and Derek Cheung with a flop showing {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and with 11,000 in the pot.

The {8-Spades} on the turn would see both players check, sending the {j-Spades} out on the river. Steicke would check in front of Cheung, wherby a 6,500 bet would be fired out. Steicke made the call and mucked when Cheung turned over {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a rivered flush.

Cheung moves up to 22,000 while Steicke drops to 19,000.

Back To Play

Level 7

The players are back and ready to play.

For your information, the next break will be the dinner break at 8 p.m AEST.

Another Says Goodbye

Level 7

Pot Limit Omaha

Another player has hit the rail, with the elimination coming on the last hand before the break.

Bruno Portaro Raised to 1,200 from late position and Justin Smith popped it to 3,800 and recieved the call.

The flop turned over {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Portaro led for pot. Smith made the re-pot and Portaro would call off his remaining chips.

Portaro: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Smith: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Smith's huge draw and flopped straight would be too good as the turn came the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {3-Diamonds}, no help for Portaro, sending him home.

Tables Down To Six

Level 7

David Oppenheim and Keith Gipson have joined the casualty list both having relatively short stacks in front of them for much of the early afternoon.

The tables will now play 6-handed, with the game changing after every six hands.

Steike Turns to Ash

Level 7

Hold'em

David Paul Steike found himself all in and in very bad shape moments after returning from break. His last chips went in on the turn of a board reading {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Steike held {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and was up against Richard Ashby's {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. That meant Steike was drawing to four chop outs. The river was the {2-Hearts} instead of a seven, and Steike took his leave of the table.

Ashby didn't hold on to Steike's chips very long. He lost them in a pot to Derek Cheung on the next hand.

Enjoying Themselves

Level 7

The table with Mel Judah, Eli Elezra, and Andrew Pantling are having a great time of it. The three of them just ordered glasses of wine, Eli had a salad delivered tableside, and they're all chatting amicably. Maya Geller (Patrik Antonius' wife) just walked by, and Elezra called her over to ask about how Patrik is doing. Since he's crushing the Main, she was only too happy to tell them.
