Michael Pesek Gaining Ascendency...Slowly!

Michael Pesek opened the action with a pre-flop raise to 21,000 from the button and David Bach made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and both players think for a long time before checking their hands.

The turn is the {A-Spades} and Bach leads with a bet of 20,000. Pesek goes into the tank once again before finally making a call.

The river is the {9-Hearts} and Bach checks it over to Pesek who makes a 60,000 chip bet. This time Bach tanks before eventually folding his hand.

This hand went for close to five minutes without even getting to showdown!

Pesek Eliminates Bach; Claims Event 10!

Runner-Up David Bach
Runner-Up David Bach
21-year-old Michael Pesek, hailing from Chicago, Illinois, has just taken down the $2,200 PLH/Omaha/Omaha Hi-Lo event and $79,800 in prize money.

The hand started with Pesek on the button, who completed the bet. David Bach then announced "Pot," making it a total of 24,000 more to call. Pesek cut the required amount of chips from his stack, slid them into the middle and made the call.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Spades} and Bach, first to act, led out with a pot-sized bet of 72,000. Pesek took one last look at his cards before raising the pot. Pesek's bet sent Bach into the tank and he counted and recounted his chips before eventually saying, "I call."

At the showdown, Bach tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a gut-shot straight draw and a heap of overcards. Pesek showed {8-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for top two pair.

After the cards were tabled, Pesek stood up out of his seat to sweat the last two cards, but the {9-Hearts} that fell on the turn made him sit right back down, as it gave Bach the nut straight and left Pesek drawing to four outs for a full boat.

Amazingly, the {6-Hearts} popped off on the river giving Pesek sixes full of sevens to outdraw Bach's straight and earned Pesek the title.
