Landreth Puts Palma to the Test

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Nick Palma opened the action with a raise to 7,000 in middle position and was called by Johnny Landreth in the hijack. Action went heads up to a flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Palma made a continuation-bet of 8,000. Landreth called.

Both players checked the turn {8-Hearts} and the river came {4-Diamonds}. Palma bet 20,000 and Landreth thought for a few moments before reaching for chips, counting out 60,000 and throwing it into the pot. Palma immediately folded.

Event #7: $360 No-Limit Holdem Ladies Only attracted a field of 49 entries to create a prize pool of $14,945. It was an All-Florida final table and Palm Bay's Stella Davila came out on top, earning her a payday of $5,028. Davila defeated Jacksonville's Tammy Groff heads up for the trophy.

The top seven places were set to make it into the money, but all players agreed to pay the entire final table, resulting in eighth place getting back their $360 buy-in.

Arbaugh the New Chip Leader

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Brian Arbaugh
Brian Arbaugh

On the last hand before the break, preflop action saw William Thomas open under the gun and receive three calls, two of which were from Brian Arbaugh in the hijack and Pete Theodocion in the small blind. The flop was {2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and action checked to Arbaugh, who bet 11,000 and was check-raised to 30,000 by Theodocion.

Action folded back to Arbaugh and he called, bringing the turn {9-Hearts}. Theodocion continued on the turn {9-Hearts} with another 35,000, sending Arbaugh into the tank as time expired in the level. Arbaugh eventually found a call as the room cleared and the river came {k-Spades}. Theodocion jammed for his last 52,500 and Arbaugh thought for well over a minute before finding a call.

"Good call," said Theodocion, tabling {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the missed gutshot straight draw. Arbaugh showed {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and took down the pot with his two jacks, increasing his stack to over 350,000 in the process to give him the largest stack in the room with 51 players now remaining.

Wang Done In by the River

Michael Wang
Michael Wang

Stephen Strout opened to 12,000 in the cutoff and Michael Wang re-jammed on the button for his last 30,000 or so. Action made its way back to Strout and he called.

Michael Wang: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Stephen Strout: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Wang looked poised for the double through the flop {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and turn {4-Hearts}, but the river {8-Diamonds} spelled disaster as Strout hit a set of eights to end Wang's tournament.
