Sunku Flips Well for a Stack

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Nikki Sunku
Nikki Sunku

Nikki Sunku opened the action with a raise to 3,500 in early position and received calls from middle position and the small blind. The big blind three-bet shoved for 13,000 and Sunku announced a re-jam for close to 70,000. Both other players folded.

All-In Player: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Nikki Sunku: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The flop {j-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} had Sunku way out in front, leaving his opponent in need of hitting running wheel or flush outs. The turn {2-Diamonds} brought him four live outs to the river, but none came as {6-Hearts} completed the runout to win it for Sunku.

Eliminations have come at a furious pace since the dinner break with nearly one-quarter of the field dropping. Another table has just broken and 88 players now remain.

Cartwright Holds with Tens

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Kyle Cartwright
Kyle Cartwright

An early-position short stack shoved preflop and received action from Kyle Cartwright, who was in the big blind.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Kyle Cartwright: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades} gave the all-in player two more outs to double and the turn {2-Diamonds} added four more to that total. However, the river {j-Clubs} was safe for Cartwright and he earned the pot and knockout as a result.

Billy Cashwell Gets Outright Win in Event #5: $360 NLH Monster Stack

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Billy Cashwell
Billy Cashwell

The bestbet Jacksonville Spring Series Event #5 was a $360 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack that drew 194 entries to create a $59,170 prize pool, and Billy Cashwell made like his name as he bested the field to claim the $13,784 that was up top.

Twenty-five players made it into the money, and when that number became eight, Stephen Randy of Barnesville OH was the first elimination of the final table, earning $1,718. All remaining players then locked up at least $2,000, with local favorite Kelly Slay finding herself the next out in seventh.

Fourth-place finisher Alan Franco made the final table of this event for the second consecutive series, finishing two rungs higher on the payout ladder than his sixth-place finish in January's Winter Open.

Palma Predicts Back-to-Back Bust Outs

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Hand #1: Kevin Ha limped under the gun and action and Nick Palma limped behind in middle position. A few folds ensued before the small blind completed and the big blind checked. As the flop {9-}{5-}{2-} came, Palma predicted he was going to win a big pot. Action checked to Ha and he bet 4,000, receiving only a call from Palma.

Action was then heads up to the turn {k-Spades}, bringing a second spade on board. Ha bet another 10,000 and Palma called. The river fell {j-} and Ha checked. Palma put him all in for 27,000 more and Ha thought for a bit before committing the rest of his chips.

Kevin Ha: {a-}{a-}
Nick Palma: {5-}{5-}

Palma's prediction came true as he sent Ha to the rail with his set.

Hand #2: On the very next hand, Palma again predicted he would knock somebody out. He raised to 2,600 from middle position and got a call from the player on his left in the hijack and action went heads up to the flop {4-}{4-}{3-}. Palma checked and his opponent bet 3,500. Palma check-raised to 11,000 and his opponent called.

The turn came {j-Hearts} and Palma bet 10,000. His opponent went into the tank and after some time, Palma asked the player if he was Hollywooding him. Shortly thereafter, the player jammed for 30,000 and Palma quickly called.

All-In Player: {8-}{8-}
Nick Palma: {a-}{a-}

No eight came on the river and Palma scored his second knockout in as many hands, predicting both before they happened. He is now up to over 135,000.

Slay Flips Well in Fun Fashion

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Kelley Slay
Kelley Slay

Gloria Jackson pumped it up to 2,600 under the gun and action folded around to Kelley Slay, who was on the button and re-jammed for his last 9,800. Jackson called upon the players in the blinds folding and the two were off to the races.

Kelley Slay: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Gloria Jackson: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Jackson flopped top pair on {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} but Slay came roaring back on the turn {8-Hearts}, picking up a set to leave Jackson drawing dead. The river {2-Diamonds} finished the runout and made his double official.
