Amnon Filippi Crowned Champion of Event 4 $500 PLO Hi/Lo

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Amnon Filippi
Amnon Filippi

After an undisclosed heads-up agreement between Vincent Firsching and Amnon Filippi, Filippi is the champion of Event 4 $500 PLO Hi/Lo. He earns $13,750 along with the trophy, while Fisching walks away with $7,464.

This is Filippi's first live tournament win since May of 2012, and the third of his career. The New York native has over $3 million in career tournament earnings.

Leonardo Palermo was in great position to capture the trophy for himself as the chip leader during three-handed play, but he lost back-to-back pots to Firsching and was eliminated by Filippi.

Filippi outlasted 89 opponents in this one-day pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better event at the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open. The top nine finishers earned a minimum of $1,179, and the bubble boy was Jinglin Chen. Chen was down to less than a big blind when he finally committed his last few chips with a pair of deuces, and Firsching flopped a pair of threes. The turn and river were both insignificant, and Chen exited empty-handed.

There is one more pot-limit Omaha main event scheduled during the BSO; Event 8: $450 Big Stack Pot-Limit Omaha. Be sure to check back for updates from that and every Borgata Spring Poker Open Main Event right here on PokerNews.

Leonardo Palermo Eliminated in 3rd Place ($4,714)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Leonardo Palermo - 3rd Place
Leonardo Palermo - 3rd Place

Leonardo Palermo and Vincent Firsching took a flop of {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and Firsching fired out 40,000. Palermo raised to 90,000, Firsching called, and both players checked on the turn ({j-Diamonds}).

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board, the two checked again, and Firsching took the pot with {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a straight.

In a previous hand, Firsching flopped quads against Palermo, and this hand left the latter last in chips.

All three players then saw a flop of {5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and the action checked to Palermo who bet the pot (132,000). Filippi re-potted, and Palermo called.

Palermo: {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Filippi: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, giving Filippi a flush, and the {k-Spades} bricked off on the river to eliminate Palermo in third place.

After staving off elimination with a few chopped pot, Greg Joslyn has been eliminated in fourth place.

He moved his short stack forward preflop with {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}, and was called by Vincent Firsching's {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

The flop fell {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, giving both players a pair, and the {j-Diamonds} on the turn gave Joslyn two pair. The {9-Diamonds} on the river gave Firsching a straight, however, and Joslyn hit the rail.

After quartering Greg Joslyn in an all-in pot and pushing his stack above 300,000 chips, Wilfredo Divio has been eliminated.

Divio, who is now celebrating his birthday since it's past midnight, raised the pot after limps from Vincent Firsching and Leonardo Palermo. Firsching quickly folded, Palermo tank-called, and the flop fell {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

Divio moved all in for around 190,000 out of turn and Palermo quickly called.

Palermo: {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Firsching: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The turn was the case five ({5-Spades}), giving Palermo quads and a mortal lock on the hand, and the {2-Diamonds} completed the board.
