Aaron Massey in Event 14 (Heads-Up NLHE) at the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open
Aaron Massey in Event 14 (Heads-Up NLHE) at the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open

As a true poker nomad, travelling the nation via Greyhound bus or flying above the great blue yonder, Aaron Massey has made a few friends along the way. So while he took down a recent pot against Michael Shklover, Massey filled in a familiar dealer across the table about his latest journey - involving Choctaw, Oklahoma for the recent WSOP Circuit event, Atlantic City for the Borgata Winter Poker Open, and the crown seat of Southern poker, Tunica, Mississipi.

Massey bet the {4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop and Shklover came along to take the {3-Clubs} on the turn. Both players tapped the table and the {q-Spades} completed the board on the river.

When both players checked once more, Shklover tabled king high, but his hand went into the muck when Massey revealed {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a turned pair of threes.

As he dragged the pot his way to get off and running at yet another stop along the circuit, Massey continued telling his story in more than ways than one.

Dan Wach Pushes Mckeehen Off the Pot

A bet of 500 went in between Joe Mckeehen and Dan Wach, with the flop reading {q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. On the {4-Clubs} turn card, both players checked, and the {2-Hearts} fell in on the river.

Mckeehen took a stab at the pot with a 1,200 bet, but Wach moved his entire stack forward in retaliation. Mckeehen could only sigh and shrug while sailing his cards into the muck.

Buzgon Calls and Wins

Tyler Short check-raised to 2,200 after Dan Buzgon fired 1,000 on a {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Buzgon made the call, and the turn was the {q-Clubs}. Short bet 4,300, and Buzgon called once more. On the {k-Hearts} river, Short put Buzgon all in for his last 8,250. Buzgon tanked for a couple of minutes before calling, and he had the winner with {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. He's now sporting a sizable chip lead.

Blood Diamond

Usually when we pass by a table with an all-in pot being contested while two players have tabled identical hands, there's nothing noteworthy to report.

Unfortunately for James Anderson, the board rolled out with the dreaded four-flush, nullifying the predictable chop and sending a match-saving pot to David Einhorn.

Both players held the same hand with {A-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and {A-Spades}{q-Hearts}, but the hand with the highest diamond belonged to Einhorn. After a final runout of {7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} was dealt, Einhorn's diamond flush gave him the double and kept him from falling into a 0-1 hole early in the tournament.
