Level 18

Joseph Cambareri

The first day of Event #12: $340 OE H/L 8B has come to an end after 18 levels of play and leading the way into Day 2 is Joseph Cambareri with an impressive 354,000.

Cambareri is a Mt. Kisco, NY, native that just recently found is the biggest cash of his career in August for just under seven thousand dollars. He is in a position now to break that record as he holds a heavy chip lead with just 20 players left in the field of the original 105 entries that this tournament collected.

The $10,693 first-place prize will give the leader a new personal best but he has some stiff competition to overcome in order to grab that feat with the hardest of competitors being Borgata regular Zach Gruneberg who sits in second. Gruneberg is a seasoned vet that will be starting the second day with 200,000 and will be gunning for another Borgata trophy to add to his mantle.

Rounding out the top five stacks headed into the final day Gerald Taylor (179,000), Leonardo Palermo (164,000), and Glenn Engelbert (150,000). Some other notable players left in the field are John Reiss (124,000), Federico Ottenio (104,000), two-time Borgata trophy winner Menachem Rosenberg (78,000), and Bryce Fox (73,000).

The first day drew in 105 players which accumulated a total prize pool of $30,555 and a total of 12 runners will be finding at least a min-cash worth $550 with the eventual champ taking come $10,693. The remaining 20 players that advanced from today will be returning Wednesday, January 22, at noon to battle it out for the top prize along with a prestigious new Borgata trophy.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring all of the updates of Day 2 so stay tuned as all of the action unfolds.

Rosenberg Wheels in a Pot

Level 18

Omaha Hi-Lo

Three players put in 16,000 before the flop, Menachem Rosenberg and Doug Roberts were two of those players. The dealer fanned out {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} on the flop and action checked to Rosenberg, he bet and only one opponent called.

A {3-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn, Rosenberg pushed in his last 1,000 and his opponent called, tabling {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a flush draw. Rosenberg tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a wheel and the {7-Clubs} did not change a thing as he scooped the pot.
