Welcome to Day 3 of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar at Sunborn Casino.

Many of the players are starting the day by enjoying the perfect weather and taking in the sites and sounds of Gibraltar and Spain.

By the time the second feature table ended a casino record was set with six tables. Unlike many other casinos where the action levels off and begins to wane at around midnight, in Gibraltar the action continues to grow.

At around 2 a.m. the record was broken with seven full tables running simultaneously after a second Sviten Special table opening. Festival organizers believe this record won't stand long as they believe it will be eclipsed on Day 3.

Among the many tables expected to run today will be two televised feature tables hosted by Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen. The first table will be a fun £1/£2 no-limit hold'em game at 5:40 p.m. CEST on a 20-minute delay. The stakes are planned to increase to £2/£5 no-limit hold'em for the later televised table at 8:40 CEST on a 20-minute delay.

You can check out all the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and across multiple media outlets including PokerNews by heading to the Live Streaming tab after coverage is live.

Players with the hospitality package were treated to a whale and dolphin watching boat tour. Today's activity away from the poker tables should satisfy a difference sense for VIP players as at 7:30 p.m. they will head a world-class dinner on the seventh and top floor of the yacht which houses the casino and hotel. The tailor-made dinner will obviously also include drinks and is timed to coincide with the sunset from one of the highest points on the peninsula without being on top of "the rock" itself.

Stay tuned at PokerNews as we report on the highlights of Day 3 of 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar along with interviews including with Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz.

Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk
Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk

Open-face Chinese poker occasionally makes its way to the Cash Game Festival. During the first time in Gibraltar the game is being played by Peter La Terra, Janar Kokk and Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk.

We will go live on the PokerNews Facebook page with the game in action shortly.

Franke Reloads on Facebook Live

Here is a look at the Facebook Live broadcast of the open-face Chinese Poker game on the PokerNews Facebook page. We sat next to Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk while he was explaining move by move how he was playing along with a little bit about the game. During the 23 minute broadcast, Franke was unable to win a single round against his opponents. He recently reloaded and we will keep track of his progress throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the first feature table of the day is about to go live with play and should be available on the Live Streaming tab in our PokerNews coverage in less than 25 minutes when factoring in the 20 minute delay.

First Feature Table of Day 3 Kicks Off with Monika Zukowicz in the Booth

The £1/£2 no-limit feature table just kicked off. You can check out the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and here at PokerNews under the Live Streaming tab.

As a special surprise, Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz will be joining the commentary booth as a cohost.

BetVictor trader Dom is in Seat 1. He was the biggest winner of all the players appearing on the Day 1 feature tables. He is hoping for some similar success today.

United Kingdom's Ryan Davey is in Seat 2. He not only was the biggest winner on the early feature table on Day 2, but also appeared in the commentary booth to give an assist to Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen.

Norway's Frode Alnes appears in Seat 3 and has been playing poker for more than two decades. His shared his favorite hand is eight-seven. It looks even better when suited.

John Garratt, in Seat 4, is normally watching the Cash Game Festival stream and gave the commentary booth a try on Day 1. He is now going for a third angle as he will appear on the feature table for the first time as a player.

Sweden's Niklas Blomqvist, in Seat 5, is not only a Cash Game Festival veteran but also has appeared on dozens of feature tables in his poker career. He is a postman by day and tries to supplement his income on the poker felt.

Swimming teacher Mike Scott is in Seat 6. His favorite hand is ten-eight. He is not nervous despite this being his first feature table experience.

Ireland's Daniel Fox is in Seat 7. He shared his biggest achievement in poker was, "Running the national student poker championships in Ireland for two years."

Rounding things off in Seat 8 is a player simply referred to as Freddy.

La Terra Nails Trip Queens in Fantasy Land

We checked out how Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk was doing on the £1 per point open-face Chinese poker table after he wasn't able to win a single round on the PokerNews Facebook Live stream.

In turns out the end of the PokerNews coverage didn't end his bad run as he reloaded two more times since then for £50 each.

One hand that didn't help his cause to turn things around was Peter La Terra getting trip-queens up top while already in fantasy land (or la-la land like Franke likes to call it). This not only awarded La Terra with many loyalty points but also sent him back in fantasy land for back to back hands.

We also asked how Mr. Poland, aka Cash Game Festival prop bet loser Janar Kokk who will be going to a Polish village for a month shortly after this festival ends, was doing. Kokk shared despite La Terra just winning big, that he was holding his own and up a bit during the session.

Kadi-Liis Allen Learning Open Face Chinese Poker

Kadi-Liis Allen
Kadi-Liis Allen

Kadi-Liis Allen attended Cash Game Festival parties in the past in Tallinn, but this is her first time going on the road for one. She has yet to play a hand of poker but has been enjoying the activities away from the felt.

If her last name sounds familiar, it should. She is the wife of Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen.

While she might not yet be ready to dive into real money action yet, she was curious about open-face Chinese Poker and saw two dealers going through a tutorial. She asked if she could hop in to learn and they were happy to oblige.

Allen along with a bunch of others are going to head up to the seventh (and top) floor of the yacht for a VIP dinner and to watch the sunset in about 20 minutes.

Estonia's Kaido Mikk Wins a Cash Game Festival Malta Package

The first of two Cash Game Festival Gibraltar leaderboards is now in the books with Kaido Mikk winning a Cash Game Festival Malta package taking place from June 14-18.

How the leaderboards work is that players receive a 25 play chip every hour on the hour that can be used on play money roulette and blackjack tables located in between the poker tables and a bar. Players can combine chips with other players, which was the strategy that Mikk used to win.

The top five players in chips during the two competitions (May 17 at 5 p.m. to May 19 at 4 a.m. and May 19 at 5 a.m. to May 22 at 4 a.m.) will walk away with prizes. The winner during each competition will be awarded a Cash Game Festival Malta package that includes free hotel, the hospitality package and €500 in cash to be used on the poker tables with four other prizes getting paid.

The top five players during each of the two competitions receive the following prizes:

  1. Cash Game Festival Malta package including hotel, hospitality package and €500 stake.
  2. Cash Game Festival Malta TV table stake valued at €500.
  3. Cash Game Festival Malta hospitality packages for two people valued at €400.
  4. Cash Game Festival Malta TV table stake valued at €200.
  5. Free beer, soda or juice at the Sunborn Casino Bar valued at €5.

Michael Fletcher who was in the lead for most of yesterday slipped down to third place with Head of Poker at Aspers Casino John Scanlon making a late push to get into second place. Rounding out the top five were Hugo Rodriguez in fourth place and 2011 WSOP side event gold bracelet winner Hasan Alexander Anter in fifth place.

The Cash Game Festival Malta takes place from June 14-18 and you can get more information on the Cash Game Festival website.
