Day 2 Started
We're just moments away from the start of Day 2 here at the DeepStacks Poker Tour Western New York Poker Championship and there is a palpable excitement in the air.
Just 42 players remain from the 217 that began this event and there is a marquee name at the top.
DeepStacks Pro Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi built a massive stack on Day 1 and will come in as the chip leader today as they play down to the final six.
The rest of the DeepStacks team hit the rail throughout the day Friday, leaving a group of local grinders to compete for the $71,827 first-place prize that includes the winner of this event at the Seneca Niagara Casino last year - Randy Pfeifer.
Pfeifer finds himself in the top ten with names like, Sammy Smith, Andy Spears, Kyaw Naing, Kam Low, Larry Carney, Jonathan Dimmig , Greg Hartwick and Justin Brennan, all within a double up or less of catching Mizrachi.
With just 42 remaining they are not far off the 24-person money bubble, which should pop soon. But it appears most are focused on making the final six, where the five-figure payouts begin and DeepStacks Poker Tour glory resides.
The PokerNews Live Updating team is along for the ride, and we will endeavor to bring you all the highs and lows from the action here in Niagara Falls from start to finish today.
Just sit back and enjoy, the DeepStacks Poker Tour Western New York Poker Championship's second day will be underway shortly.

Short stack Bradley Girdler is gone after shoving his last 50k in with and running right into big stack Kyaw Naing's pocket aces.
The board brought no surprises and as Girdler made an early exit here on Day 2, Niang inched ever closer to chip leader Michael Mizrachi.

Last year's runner up at the DeepStacks Seneca Poker Open just became a major thread here at Seneca Niagara. Steve Przybyl, who finished second last year to Randy Pfeifer (also still alive here) got his remaining 60,000 chips in on a flop of . Barry Kruger was also all-in for around 70,000 and Jason Kruger had both players at risk when the card were revealed:

Waters was out in front with his trip fours, but the on the turn gave Przybyl a better full house. The river changed nothing, and Kruger was sent out the door in 42nd place. Przybyl shot up the leaderboard with close to 200,000, and Waters was left with around 80,000. He busted moments later.

That was fast. We've already lost six players today, which means the players will redraw for six six-handed tables. We'll be back after it's all sorted out.
Here's a look at photos of some of the Day 2 chip leaders:
Louie Tomassi has gone from zero to hero to start Day 2 here in Niagara. He began play with just 28,000 chips, but now has it up to 120k after busting fellow short stack David Lyle.
It was kings for Tomassi against Lyle's and after a board of bricks Lyle was gone.

We caught the action on the flop with close to 40k in the middle and the board reading . Spears made it 16,500 and Damick simply flatted on the button.
The turn came the , Spears shoved and Damick insta-called for 40k and his tournament life with , having flopped two pair. Unfortunately for him, Spears held and had turned a better two pair.
