Changes in Battleship Poker Champs

The Battleship Poker Championships has become a fan and player favorite since PokerStars first launched it at the 2005 PCA. Much like the game of Battleship, two players sit face to face, battling in game of heads-up poker on their laptops. At this year's EPT the format will be different. Player's get to choose both their opponent's AND their buy-in amount rather than in year's past when the event was setup like a tourament. Once the buy-in has been paid, opponent has been selected and match has been set onlookers will be able to watch the game on a plasma screen as the player's battle it out BATTLESHIP STYLE. B9... F2... Pocket Aces... GAME OVER.

Fossilman Busts a Player

Late in the first Level, Greg Raymer's stack dwindled down to about 10K. He faced a button raise of 150. Raymer re-raised to 450 with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. The button raised to 1,500 and Raymer moved all in. His opponent called and flipped over {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Raymer's Jacks held up and his opponent headed to the rail as Raymer had him covered. Raymer now has around 20K.

Who Else?

Today is the first of two Day Ones. The starting field for today is rumored to be 330 players; which is more than the entire starting field (298 players) for this event last year. So it may take a little while to track down all the names today.

Johnny "bad_ip" Lodden is apparently taking the field today along with Markus Golser, who finished 14th in this event last year.
