Dren Ukella Widens the Gap

Dren Ukella - On the Rise
Dren Ukella - On the Rise
Samuel Chartier opened for a raise to 48,000 and Dren Ukella reraised to 100,000 total. Chartier made the call and they took the {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} flop heads up. Both men checked and the dealer wasted no time laying the {7-Clubs} out on the turn. Ukella bet a relatively small 50,000 and Chartier came along.

When the river fell the {J-Hearts}, Ukella grabbed a handful of chips, without counting them, and pushed them across the betting line. It was 75,000 for Chartier to call, and despite the generous pot odds being offered, he thought the better of it and threw his hand away. Ukella is now over two million chips on the hand.

Play Has Paused

With the elimination of Salvatore Pengue, play is now nine-handed. The tournament clock has paused while some of the red (T1000) chips are being colored up. We will need to lose just one more player before tomorrow's final table is set, thus concluding play for the evening.

Salvatore Pengue Eliminated in 10th Place (€ 74,400)

Action folded to Salvatore Pengue in the small blind and he moved all in for roughly 260,000. The big blind, Samuel Chartier, thought only briefly before calling. The players showed:

Pengue: {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Chartier: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}

It was a coinflip situation and the flop helped neither player as it came {K-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Both men were on their feet as the {J-Spades} hit the turn, catapulting Chartier into the lead. Pengue's fate was sealed when the {Q-Clubs} fell on the river. The two men shook hands and Pengue made his way towards the exit some € 74,400 richer. Chartier now commands a stack of about 915,000.

Frustration for Chartier

It's been a frustrating time for sole remaining Canadian, Samuel Chartier. On one hand, he raised to 46,000 preflop, only to be moved in on by Fintan Gavin. "If you fold, I'm not showing," threatened Gavin. Chartier folded, and Fintan stayed true to his word and mucked.

A couple of hands later, Chartier found himself on the small blind before a {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. Chartier led out for 23,000, but Mikael Lundell bumped it up to 60,000. After a minor pause, Chartier made the fold once again. Lundell showed a black king.
