Kitai Can't Call

After Jason Mercier opened and Davidi Kitai put in a reraise, Mercier moved all in, putting Kitai to a decision for the rest of his stack. Despite getting a 3-to-1 price on the call and nearly a million chips in the pot, Kitai elected to lay his hand down, saving his remaining chips.

After the hand, Mercier was up to 973,000.

Jonas Klausen Eliminated in 11th Place (€ 49,600)

Jonas Klausen - 11th Place
Jonas Klausen - 11th Place
Short-stacked Jonas Klausen made his stand with the {A-Clubs} {4-Spades} in a preflop all-in confrontation versus chip leader Dren Ukella. Unfortunately for Klausen, Ukella woke up with {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} and Klausen couldn't find any salvation on the {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {J-Hearts} board, as he made his exit from the Featured Table in 11th place. He'll take home € 49,600 for his performance here in Barcelona.

Benamino Speroni Eliminated in 12th Place (€49,600)

Beniamino Speroni - 12th
Beniamino Speroni - 12th
I was on my way back from reporting the last exit, braced for a level of leaning on the rail daydreaming about the Spanish presenter, when suddenly three players rose from their seats on the outer table and the cameras closed in.

As I raced over, the decision was with Mikael Lundell. Judging by the seating positions, Benamino Speroni had pushed in preflop from mid-position, Lundell had flat-called on the button, only for Sebastian Ruthenberg to come over the top from the big blind.

"Call!" announced the Swede, and we had a three-way pot with two men all in.

Speroni = {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Ruthenberg {A-?}{K-?}
Lundell = {A-?}{K-?}

With a king on the {K-?}{8-?}{10-?} flop, the two leading players touched fists in mild celebration. With no flush draw on the cards, Speroni was in search of a queen or a ten, but with a {7-?} on the turn, followed by a conclusive {A-?} on the river, it wasn't to be, and Speroni was done.

Kitai Brings a Kicker to the Party

Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai
Dren Ukella and Davidi Kitai played a decent-sized pot that ended up in a showdown. There was a 102,000 in the pot when the flop came {10-Spades} {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Kitai check-called a bet of 40,000 from Ukella and the {3-Hearts} hit the turn. Kitai check-called again, this time for 50,000. When the river fell the {10-Clubs}, both men checked and Ukella flipped up {6-?} {5-?} but Kitai had him beat with {A-?} {6-?}.

Kitai took down the pot and is one step closer to regaining the chip lead he held earlier today.

Luck of the Irish

It's difficult to see from our current viewpoint, but it appeared as though Fintan Gavin raised to 65,000, Beniamino Speroni came over the top and Gavin called all in, most likely already committed to the pot.

With a paltry {J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Gavin was in need of divine assistance against Speroni's {A-?}{Q-?}, but he'd obviously said his prayers and taken his vitamins as the board came a {6-?}{8-?}{4-?}{J-?}{2-?} to keep the Irishman alive.

"Luck of the Irish," as a fellow blogger said.
