Fauquereau Halves Maceiras' Stack

With the board reading {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} on the turn, Juan Maceiras bet 6,000 into the 5,000 pot. After dwelling for several minutes, Gerald Fauquereau moved all in and Maceiras made the call.

Fauquereau {A-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Maceiras {9-Spades} {10-Spades}

The river was the {10-Clubs}, missing Maceiras' straight and flush draws and Fauquereau raked in the pot. Maceiras was left with just under 4,000 in chips.

Sahamies Holds Steady

On a flop of {J-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}, Julien Van Lang led out for 1,100 and Ilari Sahamies made the call. The {A-Spades} on the turn prompted checks from both players, as did the {J-Hearts} on the river.

Van Lang had nothing more than an unimproved {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} while Sahamies held {7-Clubs} {8-Clubs} for the winning two pair.

Sahamies is holding steady around the 10,000 mark while Van Lang slipped to 8,200.

Andreas Hagen Doubles Through Arnaud Mattern

Andreas Hagen opened for 600, the cutoff called, and Arnaud Mattern reraised to 2,650 from the button. Once the action was folded back around to Hagen, he wasted no time moving all in for his remaining 9,250 and Mattern quickly called.

Hagen {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Mattern {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}

Hagen emerged the victor from this classic race as the board ran out {K-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Hearts} and doubled up to 19,500. Despite the hit, Mattern was still quite healthy with 28,000.

Lodden = Climber of the Day

Down to just 4,000 half an hour ago, Johnny Lodden has been on a rampage and is up to 35,000. A lot of his chips came courtesy of an opponent who had the misfortune to double him up twice in consecutive hands, first holding pocket tens against Lodden's pocket kings and the next hand holding pocket jacks against Lodden's pocket aces. Lodden is now a force to be reckoned with.

Climbing the Mattern-Horn

Arnaud Mattern has surely broken the 30,000 mark now, taking a chunky pot out of the hands of the player now occupying Iversen's old seat. A player limped in early position only for Mattern to raise to 400. The gent in Iversen's seat called, as did the early position limper.

The limper checked the {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop and Mattern bet 850. The gent in Iversen's seat raised to 2,000, the limper folded, and Mattern instantly made a huge re-raise, forcing the not-Iversen player to fold.

Barwatch

Propping up the bar currently are Messrs. John Duthie and Thomas Fougeron. Further bar-propping updates to come as players continue to bust out and find themselves waylaid en route to the exit.

Kara Doubles Up a Short-Stacked Opponent

Kara Scott has dropped down to around 7,000 after an unfortunate run-in. An opponent raised to 450, and then called when Kara made it 1,100 from the small blind. They saw a flop.

Flop: {A-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Both players checked.

Turn: {8-Spades}

Now Kara tried it on with a bet of 1,600, but was confronted with an all-in raise from her opponent -- just 1,775 more to her. She sighed, shook her head and attempted to ignore the Wall Of Media that was crowding around her table. Eventually she decided that it was worth a call, but she was thoroughly behind and stayed behind on the {Q-Clubs} river to double her opponent up.

Kara: {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}
Opponent of Kara: {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Priyan De Mel Eliminated

There was a mid-position limp and another limp from Slobodan Savic in the small blind. Big blind Priyan De Mel pushed all in for his last 1,800 or so and the first limper passed; Savic called, though, and it couldn't have been much worse for De Mel.

Savic: {A-Spades} {5-Hearts}
De Mel: {Q-Hearts} {5-Spades}

"Come on, lucky lady," besought De Mel, but it was not to be.

Board: {8-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {10-Hearts} {A-Hearts}

Arnaud Mattern Approaching 30K

On a flop of {8-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}, Arnaud Mattern bet 750, his opponent moved all in for her remaining 1,875 and Mattern quickly called. Mattern turned over {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} to his opponent's {8-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, and his pair held up when the turn and river blanked out.

"I have a pair sometimes, people!" he quipped as he raked in the pot, sending his chip stack up near the 30,000 mark.
