Hoodie Tactics Clearly Working Their Magic

A nice pot for ElkY and his extraordinary outfit. Finding himself on the button with a {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {7-Hearts} board in front of him, he flat-called a bet of 1,600 from the big blind, and both players then cagily checked the {2-Clubs} river. The big blind flipped {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} for not very much, and ElkY's {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} was enough to take the pot.

Levi's Stack Rises

Nicolas Levi has clearly had a good start. The Frenchman, who incidentally is wearing a brand new trilby after some months without ("Too many airports and train stations and things..."), lost a chunky 5,000 pot on a {2-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} board when his opponent turned over {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} for the full house, but even after losing that pot, his stack is a well-above-average 16,000 or so.

Minieri Busts Dalimore

The very tiny and very bling Italian powerhouse that is Dario Minieri has already doubled up -- pocket jacks versus the {A-?} {K-?} of voluble Englishman Mark Dalimore, all the chips going in preflop. Dalimore is a goner, lasting less than a level at this EPT, while Minieri is in possession of over 20,000 in chips.

Early Disaster for Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi's stack has taken an early tumble, falling from the 10,000 he started with to the 1,800 sitting in front of the young Canadian at present.

With the board reading {J-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, Mizzi's opponent moved all in over the top of his river bet, sending Mizzi into the tank for several minutes. Mizzi ultimately elected to make the call, only to be shown {A-?} {5-?} for the wheel. Mizzi mucked, while his opponent launched into a lively post-hand celebration.

Katja Fills Up

With the board reading {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {9-Spades} on the river, Katja Thater bet 2,500 and got a caller. The stoic Thater turned over {2-Clubs} {2-Spades} for a flopped set and a turned boat, dragging a nice early pot and increasing her stack to 14,000.

Re-Shuffle

Alex Kravchenko has been moved to Table Strassmann/Mizzi; were it not for the fact that Mizzi is still on just 1,500 in chips and quietly folding every hand, it could well be a contender for Table Of Doom.

England V. France; England Wins

Nicolas Levi is back down to around 11,500, while tablemate Roland De Wolfe is on around 13,500. Levi, in the small blind position, bet out 500 on a {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {9-Spades} flop, and then called a raise to 1,300 from De Wolfe. Both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn, and come the {8-Spades} river, Levi bet out 1,500. De Wolfe, possibly distracted by the massage he was receiving, squirmed a little. "It's almost impossible to fold," he said. "Urrrrr, so sick..." Eventually he called, and it was the right decision -- Levi turned over {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for two pair, but De Wokfe's {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} made a bigger two pair to take the pot.

New CD on the Casino Stereo

After yesterday's '70s party selection (Gloria Gaynor, Tom Jones etc), today the players at the outer tables are being treated to a medley of Euro dance lite classics. Long-haired Frenchman Thomas Fougeron appears to be the only player really appreciating the tunes, nodding quite intensely to the beats. Otherwise, it appears as though the concentration of ipods at the outer tables may well be considerably higher than that at the tables in the back room, where the casino stereo system cannot reach.
