Late-Position Woes for Williams

David Williams has often been attacking from the cutoff and button positions on the table when action folds to him, but it just hasn't really been working to his liking. Just recently, Williams raised the button to 3,200 and the big blind came back at him with a three-bet to 9,200. Williams was forced to fold and down to 39,500 chips.

Negreanu Goes Bust

Daniel Negreanu=Free Time in Barcelona
Daniel Negreanu=Free Time in Barcelona
A few hands after losing a ton of his stack on a queen-high board holding {K-?} {Q-?} versus a player holding {A-?} {Q-?}, Daniel Negreanu went busto.

He flopped two pair holding {4-?} {3-?} on a {7-?} {4-?} {3-?} board and got all his money in against a player holding pocket eights. The turn brought another seven and gave Negreanu's opponent a better two pair. Negreanu failed to improve and that was the tournament for him.

"There's a 10K on Stars tonight." he mentioned to Freddy Deeb. "I might play that, maybe fly out early."

After conversing with Deeb for a minute, Negreanu walked by Lex Veldhuis' table. Lex commented, "So much for small ball, eh?"

Deeb Gets Even Shorter

After the hijack seat raised to 2,600, Freddy Deeb made the call from the cutoff position. After he made the call, Freddy had exactly 2,700 behind, which drew the attention of many of the players at the table. The big blind also called.

The flop, turn and river were checked by all three players as the board ran out {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}.

The big blind held {J-?} {8-?} for jack high, the hijack held {K-?} {10-?} for king high and Deeb held {Q-?} {J-?} for queen high. The hijack's king high took the pot, leaving Deeb with only 2,700 chips.

Boeken Gesture

Noah Boeken has taken a smallish hit, getting as far as betting 5,300 from the button on the turn of a {5-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} board but finding himself faced with a check-raise to 13,500 from his opponent in the big blind. He went into the tank long enough that whole hands came and went on neihgbouring tables, but eventually passed. He's on 83,000 after that.

Molander Busto

Swede Jonas Molander has been eliminated after puhsing {K-?} {7-?} into {A-?} {K-?}. The silver lining is that he does get a lovely sunday afternoon off in the Barcelona sun...

Deeb Takes A Hit

Freddy Deeb raised to 4,200 only for the gentleman to his left to move in for around 40,000 total back. The action was passed back to Deeb who said, "I raise to 4,000 and he pushes for 40,000..."

He thought for a moment before saying, "I have to call you..." flipping {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. Deeb's opponent turned over {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}, the latter celebrating after the river of a {2-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board.

Woodward Wakes Up

Matt Woodward has finally arrived to claim his enormous stack.

"I thought you were going to blind into Day 3," commented EPT announcer Neil Johnson.

"Thought about it," replied the only slightly flustered Woodward.

Cart Me the Monies

Wow, here's a crazy hand.

Carter Phillips opened, and was met with a reraise from further down the table. He four-bet to 17,000, and his opponent flatted. Interesting.

Flop: {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Phillips checked and his opponent stuck in a 22,000 bet -- at which point Phillips shoved for 65,000 or so. A long dwell ensued, and eventually his opponent folded. Phillips showed him {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} for an up-and-down straight draw, and the opponent stood up and stalked off. "Wow, I put you on aces," said a tablemate. "Next time I'll have aces," said Phillips.
