Get Carter!

Carter Phillips has increased his chip stack even further, he's up to about 600,000 after raising {A-?} {10-?} and seeing a {10-?} {10-?} {8-?} flop and hence eliminating his opponent who had called preflop with {K-?} {10-?}.

His stack is now probably twice anyone else's left in the tournament.

Phillips Screws Acin

Carter Phillips called a big bet on the river from Luis Ramon Rufas Acin, and he was right -- Phillips had hit second pair on the river, and Acin could only boast a busted straight draw. Phillips is up to 390,000.

Board: {A-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Phillips: {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts}
Acin: {7-?} {8-?}

McDonald Chops Using His Trusty Ace

Timex is wound up
Timex is wound up
The small blind checked to Mike "Timex" McDonald on a flop of {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. McDonald fired 8,500 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and the small blind checked again. McDonald checked behind.

After the river fell the {3-Diamonds}, the small blind fired out 25,000 rather quickly. McDonald tanked and then made the call. The small blind tabled {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} for sevens and fours with an ace. McDonald showed {A-Spades} {K-Spades} and despite starting with the better hand, wound up with the same hand. The two players chopped up the pot.

Jacking Jaka's Chips

A huge pot had grown between Faraz Jaka and Alain Roy on the turn with the board reading {9-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {3-Spades} {6-Hearts}. Jaka fired 42,000 into the pot and Roy called after some deliberation.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} to the felt. Jaka took his time and picked out a bet of 35,000. Roy raised all in for 53,700 and Jaka quickly called.

Roy rolled over {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and had made a heart flush on the river. Jaka showed only the {5-Hearts} and counted off the chips. After the hand, Jaka was left with 5,000.

Goodwin Joins The Chip Leaders

Marc Goodwin has over a quarter of a million chips after he put his opponent all-in on the turn of a {8-Spades} {A-Hearts} {9-Spades} {Q-Clubs} board with {J-Hearts} {10-Spades} and found himself up against {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Goodwin managed to avoid all the redraws to knock out his unfortunate opponent.

De Wolfe Goes Wild

It's good to be de Wolfe.
It's good to be de Wolfe.
A massive double up for Roland de Wolfe who re-popped to a raise from his opponent, and then called all in to a shove.

Opponent: pocket queens
De Wolfe: pocket kings

Board: {A-?} {6-?} {10-?} {A-?} {3-?}, entirely devoid of queens or four-flushes.

De Wolfe is now up to a commanding 240,000.

The Huis That Lex Built

Lex's Big Stack
Lex's Big Stack
A brief chat with Lex Veldhuis helped us ascertain that his current 320,000 stack was amassed over two big hands.

First, he found himself raising with {K-?} {10-?}, receiving one caller to see a {Q-?} {J-?} {8-?} flop. The caller bet out 5,000 and Veldhuis called, and they proceeded to the {A-?} turn which conveniently made Veldhuis the nuts. Veldhuis' opponent bet out 12,000, Veldhuis made it another 30,000 to go, the other gentleman went all in with {K-?} {Q-?} and Veldhuis called. That was the first hand.

Then not long after, Veldhuis raised with {A-?} {J-?} and both blinds called. The flop came down {A-?} {10-?} {7-?} with two hearts on it, and all three players checked, moving on to the {2-?} turn. The small blind bet out 15,000 and both big blind and Veldhuis called. They saw a {J-?} river and now it checked around to Veldhuis who bet 38,000. The big blind called, and mucked.

Voila 320,000 in chips.
