Lapossie Just Can't Help Himself

Mihai Manole opened for 80,000 and Matt Lapossie made the call. Over to Asa Smith and he reraised to 260,000. Manole asked for a count on Smith, but passed -- and so back to Lapossie, who four-bet to 440,000. Smith dwelled up expressionlessly for some time -- and then announced all in. Before he'd even had time to push his stack into the middle, Lapossie had passed. Wow.

Cimpan Doubles, Still Very Short

Cornell Cimpan shoved for his last 90,000 from the small blind and Mike McDonald called in the big blind with {Q-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} ahead of Cimpan's {J-Clubs} {9-Spades} until the board of {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {K-Spades} was dealt out.

Cimpan has about 180,000 but still is the shortest stack still in the tournament.

What Does Lapossie Have?

Only Lapossie and the TV guys know.

Marc Goodwin made it 65,000 and Matt Lapossie in the big blind was the one and only caller. They saw a {6-Clubs} {7-Spades} {Q-Hearts} flop which they both checked.

They saw a {J-Hearts} turn as well and this time Lapossie bet out 88,000. Call. They saw finally an {8-Spades} river as well, and now Lapossie bet out 147,000. Goodwin disappeared into the tank this time, and when he came out again he folded.

Lapossie 4-Bet Folds

After 4-betting Asa Smith to 312,000, Matt Lapossie was quickly faced with a 5-bet all-in from the young Englishman who moved in for 814,000.

The Canadian thought for a second before giving it up.

It's Good to Be the Chip Leader

You can't barter with Carter

Chip leader Carter Phillips has been getting very jiggy indeed with his stack.

Toni Ojala raised to 61,000 and Phillips reraised to 130,000. After a moment's deliberation, Ojala called. They saw a {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} flop and Ojala checked it. Phillips bet 160,000, and the pot was his.

A few hands later and woefully short-stacked Cornel Cimpan shoved under the gun for a mere 140,000. It folded around to Phillips in the big blind, who couldn't really help but call.

Phillips: {K-Spades} {8-Hearts}
Cimpan: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Board: {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Cimpan doubled to around 320,000. This did not deter Phillips, though -- next hand it folded around to him in the small blind, and he raised to cover Cimpan's new stack. A laughing Cimpan folded.
