Chartier Moves In

Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier
Johannes Strassmann raised from the button after action folded to him. He made it 5,000 to go and then Sam Chartier moved in from the small blind for 26,700. The big blind took a minute before folding and then Strassmann folded as well, allowing Chartier to chip up to 34,000.

Dancing On 300k

George Danzer
George Danzer
George Danzer checked the flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to Miika Puumalainen. He fired a bet of 11,000 and then Danzer check-raised to 23,000. Puumalainen made the call.

The turn card was the {10-Hearts} and paired the top card on board. Danzer didn't back down though, as he fired 23,000. Puumalainen mucked his hand and Danzer scooped the pot. While Puumalainen dropped to 115,000, Danzer is now over 300,000.

Collado to the Top

Jan Collado has recently moved over to 300,000-chip mark and joins only a couple names up there. Looks like most of his chips came from the Day 1b chip leader, Tu Tuan To, who is down to 126,000.

Huber Has Uber-Stack

One gentleman raised, but Stefan Huber reraised. His opponent called, and they saw a {5-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {7-Diamonds} flop. The original raiser checked, and then quickly folded to a 7,500 bet from Huber.

Small pot this may have been, but it was just the latest of many. Already a huge stack at the start of the hand, Huber was on 350,000 by the end of it.

Someone Helppi Juha, Please

Juha Helppi spent about four minutes in the tank staring at a board reading: {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. His opponent had bet 25,500 into the 45,000-chip pot. Finally Helppi emerged with a call but regretted the decision as soon as he saw his opponent's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} for queens and eights. Helppi mucked, dropping to around 65,000.

Keine Chips for Keiner

Action folded to the small blind, who raised to 5,000. From the big blind, Michael Keiner moved all in for his last 35,000, and his opponent called instantly. It was your standard race with Keiner's {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} up against {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. The {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Clubs} flop was bad news for Keiner. He got some extra hope when the {9-Clubs} turn gave him an open-ended straight draw, but the {6-Hearts} on the river sent him to the rail.

Dag Growing

Dag is on it.
Dag is on it.
Dag Palovic raised to 6,000 from the cutoff, and the small blind reraised to 26,000. Palovic quickly moved all in and then engaged in what sounded like some impressive mind games (in German, of course) to convince his opponent to call all in for another 80,000 or so. Palovic was successful, and his {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} was up against {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} for the enormous pot. The board ran out clean: {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, and Palovic let out a yelp of celebration.

Palovic is up to 275,000 now. The Slovakian, who is known for insisting on keeping his chips in stacks of five, finally ran out of room and gave in. Now his red T1,000 chips are in stacks of 10, though he's still covering plenty of real estate. After the hand, Palovic turned to Joao Barbosa and gave him a warning. "Don't take it personally, but you are my next target, not because of you, but because of your chips." Barbosa has position on Palovic and is certain to fiercely defend his 190,000-chip stack.
