Confino Set Free

Alain Confino pushed from the cutoff with {Q-?} {6-?}, but George Secara woke up with jacks on the button. A failure to spike any miracles sent Confino to the rail.

Old McDonald Had a House

Martin Kabrhel raised from the button and Ian McDonald cheerfully shoved for his last 52,500 from the small blind. Kabrhel called, and McDonald duly doubled.

Kabrhel: {K-Spades} {10-Clubs}
McDonald: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

Board: an incredibly decisive {A-Spades} {8-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Heeeeere Kitai Kitai Kitai

Now looking for strokes and a warm place to curl up and sleep.
Now looking for strokes and a warm place to curl up and sleep.
Yes, that's right - Davidi Kitai has been, ahem, called away.

We're not sure exactly what happened, but he was spotted getting up and leaving the tournament area, not a chip in sight.

Huo Not Making Friends

With the board reading {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, Huo Jin Feng moved all in. Opponent Alain Taieb was not happy.

There followed a short but loud argument, with Taieb shouting in French and Huo shouting back in what we reckon was Mandarin. All we caught of the whole exchange was what sounded like, "Two pair, hein?" from Taieb. Either way, he eventually folded and everyone sat back down.

Taieb's Tirade

Catherine Hong
Catherine Hong
A bit of a disturbance broke out at one of the far tables, so we picked our way through the masses of humanity to try and figure out the situation.

When we walked up, the board showed {A-Clubs} {7-Spades} {9-Spades} {J-Spades}, and there was a big pile of chips already heaped in the middle of the table. Thomas Kremser was addressing Catherine Hong and making a ruling.

Kremser told her that if Alain Taieb checked, her all-in declaration would be binding. If he bet, she would have all of her options back. From this, we can gather that Hong shoved out of turn when she thought Taieb checked.

The ruling was made, and Taieb seemed fine with it. Despite that, he felt the need to sit there and berate Hong in French for several agonizing minutes. He looked downright angry, and the floor staff was keeping a close eye on him. Finally, he checked, Hong pushed her chips forward again, and, after another minute or so of yelling, Taieb called all in for his final 123,500.

Showdown
Taieb: {10-Spades} {2-Spades}
Hong: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

Taieb puffed his chest out to gloat over his unbeatable flush. A meaningless {10-Diamonds} filled out the board, and Hong has doubled up her opponent and dropped to 56,000. And she got a nice long lecture in French for her troubles.

Two floor members spoke at length with Taieb after the hand, telling him to calm down and mind his behavior. It looks like Kremser issued him a warning, but no penalty just yet.
