Jacques Guenni Eliminated in 23rd Place (€18,400)

Bruno Fitoussi is not messing around here today. He's just played his third consecutive pot, opening with a raise to 60,000. This time, though, Jacques Guenni moved all in for 150,000 total. Fitoussi was getting quite the right price to call, but he took a few minutes to be certain before committing the chips to put Guenni at risk. Cards up:

The dealer spread out a "comedy flop" as the commentators call it: {A-Diamonds}

. Guenni still had the best hand with his pair of aces, but Fitoussi picked up nearly half the deck as out cards. The {4-Spades}

on the turn was indeed one of those outs, improving him to trips and leaving Guenni dead to an ace. The river {Q-Clubs}

was most certainly not an ace, and Guenni has been knocked off in 23rd place.

Peter Bosen Eliminated in 22nd Place (€18,400)

Up on Table TV, Peter Bosen found himself in a great spot, all in for his last 218,000 with {Q-Clubs}

against Bruno Fitoussi's {5-Spades}

Bosen made a face like a bulldog chewing on a particularly sour wasp, and busts, in 22nd. Fitoussi moves up to 900,000.

Deeb Vs. Lemaire

Freddy Deeb and Hugo Lemaire saw a {5-Clubs}

flop and Deeb bet out 90,000; all good. Over to Lemaire on the button, though, who asked Deeb how much he had left - the answer was around 500,000. Lemaire raised to 220,000, and after a moment's facial contortion, Deeb passed.

By the by, since Peter Bosen busted, Deeb has been moved to the feature table.

Dragan Jovanovic Eliminated in 21st Place (€18,400)

The action hasn't slowed down for a minute since the day began less than a level ago. George Secara was the first into the pot with a raise, and Dragan Jovanovic came over the top with all of his chips. Secara made the call, putting the short-stacked Austrian at risk. Show time.

Caraba Still Climbing

First in from the cutoff seat, Teodor Caraba came in raising to 54,000. Hugo Lemaire was on the button, and he came along to a heads-up flop.

The dealer spread out {2-Clubs}

, and Caraba continued out with 70,000 more chips. Lemaire didn't waste too much time making a casual call, and fourth street brought the {Q-Clubs}

. Not slowing down now, Caraba gathered 200,000 worth of redbirds and stacked them into the pot. Lemaire wanted to play for more, though. He cut the call out of his stack, then did some fiddling with a tower of red chips. Eventually, he slid 360,000 chips across the line, either leveling or miscalculating. That's not a legal raise, and the dealer made him add another 40,000 to his bet. Caraba called.

The {4-Diamonds}

filled out the board, and Caraba passed. Lemaire shook his head and checked behind. Caraba tabled {A-Hearts}

for trip ducks, and his opponent slowly placed his hand into the muck.

Caraba has now built on his chip lead, moving up close to the 4 million mark.

Timex Knows What He Likes

Mike "Timex" McDonald has decided that the ideal preflop raise is 55,000, and has not deviated from it yet. It is not deterring the big blind (24,000) from calling.

We witnessed him raise his lucky number from the cutoff and Khier Rezaik called. However, Rezaik checked the {3-Clubs}

flop and then insta-folded to a 62,000 continuation bet.

A few hands later and Timex raised to one million. Just kidding! He made it 55,000 under the gun and it folded right around to big blind Michael Fratty who made the call. They saw an {A-Spades}

flop and Fratty gave it barely a second's thought before betting out 68,000. Timex sat very still for a few moments, and then passed.

Check/Fold It Out

The recent trend is the catchy preflop raise/call, postflop check/fold.

On Table 1, David Morante raised to 62k from under the gun, and Hugo Lemaire called. Flop {A-Spades}

. Lemaire checked, Morante bet 76k, Lemaire folded. On to next hand.

On Table 3, Michael Fratty raised to 54k, and Timex called. Flop {K-Spades}

. Fratty bet out 110k, and Timex folded.

Back to Table 1. Jake Cody raised to 57k in the hijack position, and Alexia Portal looked him up from the big blind. Flop {J-Hearts}

. Portal checked, Cody bet 67k, Portal folded. Fascinating, we know, but as the NYT says - all the news that's fit to print.

Morante Doubles Up, Not Happy About It

On the second-last hand of the level, David Morante raised to 62,000, but Jake Cody reraised. Morante laid it down.

So on the last hand of the level, Morante raised to 62,000, and Cody reraised again, to 282,000. Back around to Morante, and this time he announced all in. An insta-call from Cody, and they were on their backs for Morante's tournament life, sucking up valuable break time.

"You don't believe me?" growled Morante, who seemed genuinely angry despite just doubling up to around 1.5 million. Cody is left with perhaps 750,000.
