You Don't Just Have to Read This, You Can See It Too

If you'd like to see the action unfold with your very own eyes, thanks to the wonders of technology you can do exactly that!

Heading over to EPT Live will make you feel like you're in the Casino Barriere, although we daresay the temperature in our readers' respective homes is rather more comfortable than the sweltering tournament area...

Good Call from Albertini

With the board reading {J-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts}, Stephane Albertini checked to Claudius Secara, who bet 280,000.

Albertini thought long and he thought hard, and eventually he called - and it was a good call. Albertini's pocket fives were good to beat Secara's {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} for a flopped straight draw that came to nothing, and Albertini took the pot.

We Thought This Would Go Faster

To be honest, we may have rather jumped the gun on this. It turns out that whichever member of casino staff was in charge of providing the official chip counts when they went to one table rather, er, confused a couple things, and Peter Eastgate was never quite as short as they told us he was. And everyone really, really wants to make final table. So, we could be quite some time yet...

These are the current counts:

Seat 1: Claudius Secara - 850,000
Seat 2: Jake Cody - 4,825,000
Seat 3: Michael Fratty - 1,700,000
Seat 4: Teodor Caraba - 5,210,000
Seat 5: Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier - 870,000
Seat 6: Peter Eastgate - 805,000
Seat 7: Craig Bergeron - 3,385,000
Seat 8: Stephane Albertini - 3,925,000
Seat 9: Mike "Timex" McDonald - 1,820,000

It's Apparently a Flop Game

It's been awhile since we've seen a showdown to report, but at least we got to a few flops finally.

ElkY raised preflop and Michael Fratty called from the big blind.

Flop: {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Hearts}

Fratty bet out 115,000 and seemed completely surprised when ElkY repopped to 310k. After some thought, he gave it up, shipping ElkY his first pot in a while.

Next hand, Fratty defended his small blind from a raise by Mike McDonald. The flop came {J-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and both checked. Fratty took a stab at the pot after the {A-Diamonds} on the turn, and McDonald folded.

Chip Leaders Clash, Briefly

Stephane Albertini opened for 110,000 and Jake Cody called behind. Over to Teodor Caraba in the small blind, who counted out a reraise and pushed it across the line - 355,000 in all. Big blind ElkY and original raiser Albertini folded pretty sharpish, but Cody disappeared into the tank...

...And then folded. We remain nine-handed.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier Eliminated in 9th Place (€51,500)

ElkY - 9th place
ElkY - 9th place
Michael Fratty opened for 160,000 in the hijack and chip daddy Teodor Caraba called in the cutoff. Over to ElkY on the button, and with a wave of his hand, he announced all in. Fratty folded - but Caraba made the call. Uh-oh, ElkY...

ElkY: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Caraba: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

Flop: {8-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {4-Spades} - ElkY found himself a flush draw. For the benefit of the cameras, there was a long, painful pause before the turn.

Turn: {9-Hearts} - now ElkY had a gutshot draw too. More pausing.

River: {2-Diamonds}

No cigar. The popular Team PokerStars Pro: France will not be gracing the official EPT final table in his home country, as he exits in 9th. Chip leader Teodor Caraba is now HUGE chip leader, on almost 7 million. Ladies and gents, we have our final table.
