Carson Cruises To Another Double

Lucky man
Lucky man
Russell Carson raised to 260,000 on the button and Allan Bække raised to 1,000,000 from the big blind. Carson shoved and Bække called. Hands face up please!

Carson: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Bække: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The flop was thrilling, coming out {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and making Carson a slight favorite to win the hand. It was nearly over on the {K-Spades} turn when Carson paired up, leaving Bække just one out to end the tournament. Instead, the {Q-Clubs} hit the river and Carson doubled up to 6.6 million.

Hopes of Big Action Raised, Dashed

Russell Carson made it a standard 260,000 from the button and Bække called.

Flop: {3-Clubs} {9-Spades} {8-Clubs}

Bække bet out an amount we sadly couldn't quite make, but the raise from Carson was to 1.1 million. Call. Suddenly the hand got interesting.

Disappointingly, though, they checked down the {5-Clubs} turn and {5-Spades} river, and Carson flipped {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} for a straight draw that hadn't come in. Bække's {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} for two pair was good, and he picked up the healthy 2.7 million pot.

Break it Up

We've come to the end of another level, and it's time for one of those pesky 10-minute breaks. Just enough time to grab an espresso.

Russell Carson Eliminated in 2nd Place (€296,000)

Carson - runner up
Carson - runner up
Well that didn't last long.

First hand back, Russell Carson opened on the button and it looked like Bække reraised, only for Carson to shove; the cards were on their backs almost immediately.

Bække: {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}
Carson: {K-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Board: {6-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}

Carson was drawing dead on the flop, and the plucky Canadian could not manage another double up.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.
