No Double for Cainelli

Luca Cainelli, down to around 400,000 after folding to Marcel Koller's four-bet earlier, got his last in with {A-?} {Q-?} - but Johannes Strassmann found {A-?} {Q-?} too and with an absence of flushes on the board they chopped the pot.

Gloria's Gambit

If you're following along with the stream on EPT Live, you'll likely hear Jeff Sarwer in the box doing some commentary a little later on in the day. Yesterday though, Gloria dragged him off the ski slopes and back inside the casino to answer a series of ridiculous questions in a little thing we like to call "Calling the Clock". Check it:

Baekke Finds Aces

Allan Baekke
Allan Baekke
From the cutoff seat, Allan Baekke opened the pot to 34,000 before Johannes Holstege three-bet to 79,000 from the button. When the blinds folded, Baekke came right back over the top with a four-bet to 157,000, and Holstege moved all in for 642,000. Snap-call! Monster pot. Cards up.

Showdown
Baekke: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Holstege: {4-Spades} {4-Clubs}

Johannes couldn't believe his predicament as he stood from his chair and paced around the table, staring at the floor and shaking his head. The flop wasn't much help for him as it came {7-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}. The {8-Spades} on the turn opened the door a crack, though, and an unlikely {5-Spades} filled out the board and filled in Holstege's straight.

Coming from behind to notch that big double up, Holstege finds himself sitting now with about 1.3 million.

Baekke - 2.65 million

Freerolling

An enormous hand on the feature table, but it ultimately came to nothing.

Robert Haigh raised and got called by Marcel Koller (button), Alexander Debus (small blind) and Johannes Strassmann (big blind); there was 174,000 in the pot when they saw a flop.

Flop: {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {2-Spades}

It checked around to Koller who bet 113,000. Back to Debus - who now check-raised. Koller pushed for 773,000, Debus called, and they were on their backs.

Hand 1: {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Hand 2: {A-Spades} {J-Spades}

It was not actually clear which of the two players held the spades, but as it was the turn and river ran out {3-Diamonds} and {10-Hearts} respectively so they chopped the pot up. Koller looked like the more relieved of the two at the end of the hand.

Toth on the Ropes

Looking down at {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}, Richard Toth open-shoved for his final 315,000 chips. Next door, Lukas Baumann re-shoved all in, and the rest of the table yielded to let the two men duke it out. Toth was at risk, and he was in for some bad news as Baumann tabled {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}.

Ah, but things would improve for the Team PokerStars Pro. The {A-Clubs} dropped right in the door, and the board of {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} secured his double up. He's at about 650,000 now, while Baumann has been knocked back to 280,000.
