Selbst's Bluff Fails

With 11,750 in the pot, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst fired 7,900 on the river of a {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {J-Spades} board causing her opponent Bryn Kenney to tank for several minutes before he eventually made the call.

Selbst mucked instantly and pointed out Kenney had to show his hand and he tabled {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. This however isn't the actual rule in EPT's, which is that if a player is called and mucks, the other player does not need to show a hand to win the pot. However, if a player calls the best and asks to see the opponent's hand, they then themselves must table a hand to win the pot.

This stops an advantage being given to players who bluff since otherwise they gain info about opponents who have made good calls. This rule can have critics though since it may make collusion more difficult to detect.
