Our hopes of heralding our first ever double EPT winner have just taken a shot in the arm after Rupert Elder has doubled up. His unfortunate opponent was Dimitris Mpinas and this is how the hand went down.
Dimitris Mpinas raised to 40,000 in early position and Rupert Elder moved all-in for 448,000 in the hijack seat. Mpinas took some time before calling and we had a showdown.
Elder
Mpinas
Board:
Elder is up to 950,000 and Mpinas is in serious trouble with 102,000
Zinman Zayard raised to 45,000 in the hijack seat and Pierre Mothes three-bet very quickly from the cutoff seat. The size of the bet was 135,000 but Florian Schleps increased that ante when he moved all-in from the big blind for 527,000. Zayard folded quickly but Mothes took rather longer before folding. Mothes flashed and Schleps flashed
Charalampos Kapernopoulos just keeps plummeting down the chip counts. Here is his latest loss and the happy recipient of his chips was Ioannis Taramas.
Taramas had raised from the hijack seat and Kapernopoulos called in the big blind. The flop was and Kapernopoulos checked to Taramas who bet 265,000. All eyes back on our former chip leader and he moved all-in and Taramas made the call.

It was flush draw versus over pair. The turn was the and the river the causing Taramas to slam his fists into the table in jubilation.
After being crippled by Rupert Elder, Dimitris Mpinas tournament life has just been ended by David Elyashar.
Elyashar opened with and Mpinas moved his last 100,00 into the middle with and Elashar made the call and eliminated Mpinas after the board delivered him a straight.
Rupert Elder opened to 40,000 from the cutoff and Zimnan Ziyard made it 102,000 on the button. Elder thought for about a minute and then moved all in for roughly 700,000. Ziyard took his turn at thinking and after about 30 seconds or so, made the call.
Elder:
Ziyard:
The last remaining former champion was in big trouble and by the turn of the he was drawing dead. Ziyard, a fellow student of the University of Warwick, now has a big chip lead.
Charalampos Kapernopoulos raised to 50,000 on the button before Andras Kovacs moved all in to cover him from the small blind, Mario Puccini then also moved all in and a visibly frustrated Kapernopoulos folded.
Kovacs:
Puccini:
The board came and the German doubled up to almost a million, Kovacs is left desperately short.
Ioannis Tamaras raised to 50,000 on the button and Vasileios Chantzaras three-bet to 115,000 from the small blind. The big blind gave the dealer his cards and Tamaras made the call.
Flop:
Chantzaras bet 140,000 and Tamaras shouted Call at the top of his voice.
Turn:
"I am all-in," said Chantzaras and the bet was for around 700,000.
"Let me just check my cards,' said Tamaras with a great big smile on his face, "Call."
Tamaras flipped over for the nut flush and a disgusted Chantzaras threw in the middle of the table. The river was and Chantzaras was gone. Tamaras on the other hand was our new chip leader with a smidgen over 2 million in chips.
