We wish we'd seen the flop action for this one. But we didn't. In any event, we did pick it up live as the board showed with about 5,000 in the pot. Andy Frankenberger was leading the betting, and he put out 3,100. Ugur Acikcesme made the call next door, and the landed on the river. Always deliberate, Frankenberger considered for a good while before settling on a final bet of 6,000. That left him with just 15,300 chips behind, and that became a problem when Acikcesme raised to 12,000. Frankenberger didn't have much choice, and he eventually reraised all in to put himself at risk. He tabled for the set. It was no good.
Acikcesme's had turned the wheel, and Frankenberger has been eliminated.
We've just heard word that we'll be playing a total of six levels today, so we should finish up just before 9:00 PM. That's friendly, but it does prompt some worry about the rest of the week's schedule. The chip math says we should have around 150 players left at the end of the day.
During the break, we heard news of the demise of Vladimir Geshkenbein. Word on the street is he ran pocket queens into Andrey Saenko's pocket aces to end his day earlier than he'd hoped.
We also watched a pot play out between Ramez Haddad and Jude Ainsworth. There was a raise and two callers in front of Ainsworth, and he made a three-bet from the small blind. Haddad had been the first of the two flat-callers, and he reraised all in for about 65,000 when it came back to him. Ainsworth made the call, and the cards were on their backs.
Showdown
Haddad:
Ainsworth:
Ainsworth flopped a flush draw on the , but he could not catch up on the turn or river. Haddad has doubled, and the two are essentially even in chips now.
On the last walk past Liv Boeree, we noticed that she's increased her stack by about 100,000 -- all the way up over 275,000! We'll try to get some details during the upcoming break, but for now, it looks like we have a new chip leader.
As the field is quickly shrunken, a few tough tables are starting to form.
They're breaking high to low, so we'll start in the same fashion. Table 33 has Grayson Ramage, Johnny Lodden, and Lex Veldhuis right in a row in Seats 2-4.
Table 31 holds Anton Wigg (Seat 2), Dag Palovic (4), and Chris Moorman (8), but we'd expect to see that table break before the end of the level, too.
Moving across to the low tables, we've got a few groupings that figure to be together for a while. At Table 12, we find Max Silver (4), Dmitry Stelmak (7), and Dermot Blain (9). Table 11 right behind it has Ville Wahlbeck (1), Jonathan Duhamel (3), and Dominik Nitsche (6).
Table 9 is a particularly tough place to play right now, probably the leader in the Table of Death nominations. There, we find Eoghan O'Dea (2), Tino Lechich (3), Jean-Philippe Rohr (7), and the Gus Hansen (8).
Finally, at Table 4, we've got Oleksandr Vaserfirer (1), ElkY (5), Jungleman (7), and Russell Carson (8).
