From middle position, Morten Erlandsen raised to 2,000, and Pat Pezzin three-bet to 5,500 next door. Over on the button, Rupert Elder came in from the cold with a four-bet to 12,000 total. That folded Erlandsen, but Pezzin made the call to proceed.
The dealer spread out , and Pezzin knocked the table. Elder took pause, then continued out with a small bet of 9,000. Pezzin flatted, and the two men checked through the turn. On the river, the cued Pezzin into action, and he led out with a bet of 16,000. Elder snap-called.
Pezzin showed up for the overpair to the board, and it was good. Elder's were not enough, and that loss knocks him back down around 63,000. It's an upward trend for Pezzin, though, and he's crossed a big milestone up to 111,000.
From under the gun, Jason Wheeler raised to 1,800. Action folded to Ty Mullins on the button and he three-bet to 5,000. After the blinds folded, Wheeler called.
The flop produced the and Wheeler checked. Mullins bet 5,500 and Wheeler called.
The turn was the and Wheeler checked. Mullins checked behind to see the land on the river. Wheeler bet 8,100 and Mullins called.
Wheeler tabled the , but was beat by the from Mullins.
Michal Maryska opened the pot with a raise, and Michel Abecassis made a three-bet in position. Nicolas Levi had about 35,000 chips left, and he squeezed all in over the top of both men, folding Maryska quickly. Abecassis made the call for about half his stack, though, and the news was not good once he saw the hand he'd called down.
Showdown
Abecassis:
Levi:
There was no funny stuff on the board, and the two Frenchmen at the table have essentially traded stacks. Levi comes out ahead in that encounter, doubling up to about 75,000. As you can see from the trend, though, that's still down a bit from his Day 2 starting stack.
From under the gun, Team PokerStars Pro Michael Keiner raised to 1,900. Vedzizhev Beslan called from the next seat, Garri Tevosov called from the cutoff seat, Petr Jaros called from the small blind and Scott Baumstein called from the big blind.
All five players saw the flop come down and Jaros checked. Baumstein bet 6,100 and Keiner folded. Beslan raised to 13,000, which knocked Tevosov out of the way. Jaros reraised all in for around 80,000. Baumstein and Beslan both folded to give Jaros the pot.
Michel Georges Habib opened to 1,400 from middle position, and Yann Brosolo three-bet to 4,500 right next door. On the button, Theo Jorgensen looked down at , and he shoved his last 19,400 chips into the middle. That folded Habib without incident, but Brosolo had woken up with and -- not surprisingly -- he called. Habib said he folded ace-king, and Jorgensen had two outs to stay afloat.
And two outs were enough. The board came , and the set of jacks mean the Team PokerStars Pro has doubled back into contention. He's got just over 42,000 now, while Brosolo takes an unfortunate step backwards to 90,500.
Action folded to Ben Vinson in the cutoff seat. He raised to 1,800. Both Ari Engel and Natalie Hof called from the blinds in that order and the flop came down . Engel bet 2,100 and Hof folded. Vinson raised to 6,200 and then Engel came back with a reraise to 13,600. Vinson gave it up and Engel won the pot.
PokerStars qualifier Kimon Lehmann raised from early position to 2,500 and action then folded to Richard Bodis in middle position. He reraised to 6,100. In the cutoff seat, another PokerStars qualifier Jami Juutila moved all in for 26,500. Action folded back to Lehmann and he gave it up. Bodis quickly called.
Bodis:
Juutila:
The flop, turn and river ran out and Bodis eliminated Juutila.
On a flop, we picked up the action as Michal Maryska was leading out with a bet of 1,800 out of position. It looks like he was the preflop raiser, and Fatima Moreira de Melo flatted to see the turn card.
It was the , and Maryska fired right out with another 4,200. De Melo called again, and the filled out the board on fifth street. The last bullet came, and de Melo was faced with a 10,500-chip decision. The flop and turn decisions had come relatively quickly, but de Melo spent a long while considering this one. She cut out the call from her stack of 33,300 and shuffled it in one hand as she studied the scenario. It was about three or four minutes later that she shook her head and slid her cards into the muck.
Maryska used the new "Show One Card" feature of the software, and he revealed the as he pulled in the pot.
We're playing 75-minute levels today, and the first of those has just begun. The players are (mostly) in their seats, and the cards have gone flying on Day 2.
