Cristiano Guerra Eliminated in 22nd Place (€19,000)

Kevin MacPhee raised to 52,000 from early position, and Jan Bendik three-bet to 155,000 right next door. When the action came around to Cristiano Guerra, he made another raise -- all in for 724,000. That folded MacPhee out of the way with some hesitation, and Bendik thought it over for a long while before announcing the call.

Showdown
Bendik: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}
Guerra: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

The {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} flop was a disaster for Guerra, and the turn {7-Hearts} left him dead to two outs. He could not find a queen on the {9-Hearts} river, and we've lost another player. It's Guerra fallin gin 22nd place, and he'll walk home with €19,000 jingling in his pocket. Not too shabby.

Elio Fox Eliminated in 23rd Place (€19,000)

Elio Fox - 23rd Place
Elio Fox - 23rd Place

Mike McDonald is in push-fold mode, and this one one of the "push" hands. "Timex" open-shoved for 343,000 from middle position, and two seats over, Elio Fox asked for the count. He was trying to see if he was covered, and with only 306,000 in front of him, he was. After another minute, he announced his all in as well, and the cameras crews shot into action, scurrying around the stage to set up a shot. Everyone else folded, and McDonald was heads-up for the knockout/double-up.

Showdown
McDonald: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Fox: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

The {7-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Hearts} flop was a miss for McDonald, and he was not a fan. "Come on, give me a good sweat," he pleaded with the dealer. "Like a queen." His sense of humor about the situation didn't help on the {7-Diamonds} turn, but he managed to river the best hand. His {Q-Diamonds} dropped off the deck, and Fox's jacks were suddenly second-best.

So then, it's the end of the road for Elio Fox, but he's picked up another paycheck here in San Remo. It's not quite as big as the one he earned in Cannes, the €1.4 million for winning the WSOPE Main Event. But it's another €19,000 to spend all in one place, and it's the first time Fox has tasted tournament elimination in ten days of tournament play across the two countries.

As they shook hands, McDonald said, "I'll try and win you some money," and it appears Fox can still get his hands on at least a piece of the first-place money. He'll be rooting for Timex now, and he's got 703,000 chips after that knockout.

Jon Spinks Eliminated in 24th Plce (€19,000)

Jon Spinks (right) - 24th Place
Jon Spinks (right) - 24th Place

Right from the get-go, Jon Spinks was all in preflop with the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} against Jan Bendik's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Spinks was the player at risk and had his tournament life on the line.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Spinks added a few more outs with a gutshot to Broadway. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn wasn't the help he needed and it left Spinks with just the river card to come. Needing an ace or a ten, Spinks' tournament was hanging by a thread.

The dealer dealt the {3-Spades} on the river and was about as far away from the card Spinks needed as it could get. He was eliminated in 24th place and earned €19,000 for his finish.

Day 5: From 24 to 8

Chris McClung
Chris McClung

Welcome back to the 2011 PokerStars.it EPT San Remo. It's Day 5 and the field has been whittled down to just 24 players. The man with the most chips amongst the final three tables is Chris McClung. He's got a strangle hold on the competition with 3.148 million in his stack. The next closest player is Daniel Neilson with 2.011 million.

Outside of those two top stacks, we've got plenty of firepower left in this one. Team PokerStars Pro is represented by Lex Veldhuis and Johnny Lodden. Well-known European players Alessio Isaia and Barny Boatman are still in the mix as well.

A few title holders in Kevin MacPhee, Mike Donald and Elio Fox also still remain. MacPhee is a previous winner at EPT Berlin, McDonald won EPT Dortmund and Fox won the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event just last week.

The event is set to kick off shortly at 2:00 PM local time, so be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews as we play down to the final table of eight.
