Seiver Makes Tough Table Tougher

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Jan Heitmann just won a small pot with a continuation bet on a flop reading {2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and he should appreciate the extra chips as every pot won will be earned until his table breaks.

The latest addition to the table was the formidable Scott Seiver. He joined a cast already including the German Team Pro, Filipe Ramos, Lari Sihvo and Aku Joentausta.

Seiver has already amassed more than $7 million dollars in tournament earnings, two million of that alone came at the PCA in January where he won the Super High Roller event. The American had never managed to cash in a Main Event though and will be looking to change that stat this week.

Bojang In The Building

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We recently spied Ismael Bojang taking his seat here at the EPT Berlin Main Event. Bojang, who recently won the €10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship at EPT Deauville, has over $667,000 in live tournament winnings but is still in the hunt for the ever-elusive EPT Main Event championship.

Bojang came the closest to attaining this goal back in October of 2012 during the EPT Sanremo Main Event where he became the first casualty of the final table and pocketed €65,450 for his eighth-place finish.

Set Over Set Over Set

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The title feels a bit repetitive but it's a pretty accurate description of what just happened on Table 22. The action started with Timothy Adams who raised under the gun to 300 and it was folded to Stefanita Fechete who three-bet to 850 from the hijack. Viachos Lampros was seated on the button and he called, as did AP Phahurat from the small blind. Adams also committed the extra chips and four players saw the flop.

The flop ran out {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Phahurat lead out for 1,200 and Adams made the call. Fechete, the preflop agressor, decided to take control again and bumped it up to 3,600. This wasn't enough for Lampros who three-bet to 7,500 from the button. Phahurat gave it some thought and made the call while Adams did some thinking of his own before kicking in his cards. Fechete also decided to fold.

The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and Phahurat checked to Lampros who moved all in quickly for 15,425. Phahurat called immediately and turned over {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. The American was in really bad shape as his opponent turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. On the river the {6-Spades} hit and Phahurat lost a huge portion of his stack.

"I folded treys," Adams said claiming to have folded a set on the flop. Plenty of fireworks early on here in Berlin as Lampros is up to around 55,000 chips.

Visser Stumbles Out of the Gate

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

EPT9 London Main Event winner Ruben Visser opened in early position, Edouard Katz three-bet to 750 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Visser, who called.

The flop fell {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Visser checked, and Katz fired 725. Visser called.

The turn was the {6-Spades}, Visser checked again, and Katz tossed out another 1,700. Visser quickly called.

The {9-Diamonds} completed the board, and Visser checked a third and final time. Katz had chips in hand, ready to bet, and he flipped forward 2,125. Visser tossed out a single green T25 chip, signaling a call, and Katz tabled {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a rivered two pair.

Visser tossed his cards into the muck, and then grabbed an extra 2,100 to send over to Katz.

Nitsche Fires River

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We came upon the table to find 1,700 already in the middle and a flop that read {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} spread out on the felt. Matti Konttinen checked from the small blind over to Steve O'Dwyer in the cutoff who also tapped the table.

Dominik Nitsche cut out a bet of 1,000 and Konttinen called. O'Dwyer stuck around too and the turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}. Konttinen and O'Dwyer both checked for a second time and Nitsche followed suit.

The river paired the board and brought a fourth diamond when the {5-Diamonds} fell. Two checks to Nitsche prompted a bet of 3,000. Konttinen went into the tank before finally releasing his hand. O'Dwyer folded as well and the pot was pushed to Nitsche.

Nitsche is now sitting on about 35,000 while O'Dwyer's stack has fallen to roughly 26,500.

A Tale of Two Brits

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Rory Mathews and Rhys Jones have seen their stacks go in opposite directions so far today but with a great structure in place neither should feel too comfortable or uncomfortable yet.

Jones, who's sat next to Barny Boatman, made it to the river in a hand versus Adrian Piasecki. The final board read {q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Jones check-called a 1,400 turn bet before he folded to a 1,900 river bet.

Mathews meanwhile opened to 250 from the cut-off before Ramin Hajiyev three-bet to 1,200 from the small blind. Mathews came back with a four-bet to 2,750 and that did the job as Hayiyev folded.

Did You Know He Was This Close?

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

German pro Moritz Kranich is not a flashy guy. He looks focussed and determined at the table and you might forget that he was really close to becoming the fifth Triple Crown winner back in 2011.

Kranich's first big success came back in 2009 when he won EPT Deauville for €851,400. In July of 2010 he added a WPT title to his resume when he took down the Bellagio Cup WPT for $875,150. About a year and a half ago he was three-handed for the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event title but he did not manage to take that one down.

Kranich won €550,000 for his third place finish and he's currently in eighth place on the German all-time money leader board with just under three million in career live earnings. Kranich is playing today and we will be following him closely throughout the event.
