Refos Stacks Silvermann

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Raoul Refos and Steven Silverman clashed earlier on, a clash that Refos came out on top from. They just locked horns again and it is safe to say it is two-nil to Refos.

We were attracted to their table by the rare words, in this event anyway, of "all-in and call," to discover a board reading {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Silverman all-in with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} in front of him and Refos {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} in front of him.

Refos' straight rendered the river inconsequential and Silverman headed to the registration desk to reload for another €10,000.

O'Dwyer Plays the Board and Loses

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Playing the board is rarely a winning proposition in any poker tournament, as Steve O'Dwyer just found out.

O'Dwyer opened to 700 in the cutoff and EPT Berlin's champion Davidi Kitai defended his big blind with a call. Kitai then check-called a 1,500 bet on a {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop, then a 3,600 bet on the {A-Hearts} turn. That was the last of the betting because both players checked the arrival of the {6-Clubs} river.

"I'm playing the board," informed O'Dwyer

Kitai turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and is closing in on 100,000 chips.

Zaichenko in Anything But Wonderland

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Andrey Zaichenko is watching Alice in Wonderland on his iPad but it is his chips that have disappeared down the rabbit hole and not Alice.

Jonas Lauck opened to 700 from early position and the next two players, Zaichenko and Raoul Refos both called. The dealer burned a card then fanned out the {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop, a flop that was checked by Lauck and bet to the tune of 1,200 by Zaichenko. Refos called and Lauck folded.

The {q-Diamonds} turn saw Zaichenko bet again, increasing the size to 2,500. Refos raised to 6,100 and Zaichenko called, but it took him over two minutes to do so. The {10-Spades} was checked by Zaichenko, Refos bet 11,000 and Zaichenko reluctantly folded.

Refos Smoking Now

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Raoul Refos has battled all the way back and is showing a profit for the first time.

His latest victory came in a battle of the blinds against Steven Silverman. Refos opened from the small blind and then four-bet to 5,700 after Silverman three-bet to 2,400.

Silverman called and the board ran out {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades} before any more chips ventured forwards. Refos bet 7,500 and Silverman called after some though. Refos opened {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and took the pot as Silverman mucked.

Reilly Riled

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Timothy Reilly has not been in the tournament very long but he has already had to face a barrage of bets from Spaniard Raul Paez.

Paez opened to 675 from UTG+1 and the action passed around to Reilly in the big blind. Reilly three-bet to 1,800 and once again Paez four-bet, this time to 4,675. Reilly called and the duo shared a {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop.

Reilly tapped the table and checked, Raul continued with a 5,000 bet and Reilly called. The {2-Hearts} was checked by Reilly, but Paez showed no signs of slowing down. Instead, he increased his bet size to 8,000 and a rustrated Paez sent his hand into the muck.

Player Folds Set to Tureniec!

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec

Michael Tureniec is known as a very aggressive player who's not given credit for have a hand much of the time. That is part of his success in building up big stacks - players don't believe him! Then there's Roman Romanov who was a believer.

He was in early position and Tureniec (small blind) check-called bets of 1,500, 2,600 before leading himself for 4,225 on the river of a {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} board.

Romanov said, "I'm so sick of this!" and open folded {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a set.

Paez and MacPhee Clash Again

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kevin MacPhee and Raul Paez have been going at each other hammer and tongs and it is surely only a matter of time before another massive pot is created by them.

Paez as on the button with 1,775 in front of him and was wondering what to do in response to the 4,200 raise from MacPhee, who was in the small blind. A full three minutes passed, during which time Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree had come to rail MacPhee, before Paez folded.

Paez is very deliberate in his actions and is taking a lot of time to act. It is a good job the high roller has such a great structure!
