Jacobson Turning the Screw

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Martin Jacobson has just won a monster pot and is far and beyond the chip leader.

Jacobson has been putting pressure on everyone, first he shoved from the small blind and forced Bryn Kenney to fold, then he move in from the button and forced Kenney — again — and Jonathan Duhamel to muck their hands.

It is not just the short stacks he is bullying, he is also going for the throat of the biggest stacks, namely Alexandre Reard.

Timothy Reilly opened to 33,000 under the gun and after Vojtech Ruzicka folded Martin Jacobson called. Three players folded and it was up to Reard to act in the big blind. He checked his hole cards and raised to 75,000. Reilly folded but Jacobson called.

The already substantial pot grew even larger when Reard lead for 100,000 on the {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop. Jacobson called and the pot swelled even further. The {2-Diamonds} was met with another Reard bet, one for 180,000! The increased sized didn't deter Jacobson and he called.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and now Reard checked. Jacobson, who must have cajones the size of basketballs, moved all-in! Reard removed his sunglasses and tried to study his opponent and replay the hand in his head. Eventually, around a minute after Jacobson's shove, Reard folded and left himself 460,000 chips.

Two More Levels

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The players have voted to play two more 60 minute levels before calling it a night. We believe this final table is going to be streamed on the internet, which means you fine people will be able to see what we see!

Level: 20

Blinds: 8,000/16,000

Ante: 2,000

Break Time

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The players are on a 15-minute break. The likelihood is that they'll play two more levels tonight.

Ruzicka Wins Last Pot of Level 19

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka has won the last pot of Level 19; he won it from Martin Jacobson.

Jacobson's raise to 25,000 from first position looked as if it would pick up the blinds and antes. That was until Ruzicka called in the big blind. A flop of {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} saw Ruzicka check-call a 30,000 bet from his Swedish opponent.

Both players checked down the {6-Diamonds} turn and {k-Spades} river, Ruzicka's {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} besting the ace-jack of Jacobson.

Duhamel's Delayed C-Bet Picks Up Chips

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel opened to 27,000 from early position and his only customer was Alexandre Reard in the big blind. The duo shared a{a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, a flop they both checked.

The {Q-Spades} turn saw Reard checked again, then call, as Duhamel tried his luck with a 32,000 bet. Reard tapped the table again when he saw the {3-Hearts} on the river, and again called when Duhamel bet 54,000.

Duhamel turned over {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Reard flashed the {a-Hearts} as he mucked.

Big Stacks Feel Each Other Out

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Alexandre Reard and Martin Jacobson, two two big stacks, played a pot together for the first time at nine-handed play and it was played with caution.

Reard opened to 20,000 from under the gun and Jacobson was the only caller to a {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop. Reard continued for 20,00 and the Swede called before both players checked the {8-Clubs} turn.

On the {5-Diamonds} river Jacobson gave his opponent a good stare down when faced with a 29,000 bet before he elected to fold.
