Fishhooks Lead to Buonanno's Demise

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We missed the elimination of EPT10 Grand Final champ Antonio Buonanno, but fortunately Connor Drinan, who did the deed, was kind enough to fill us in on some details.

According to him, Andre Akkari opened for 4,500 and Chris Hunichen three-bet to 11,200 from the cutoff. Buonanno then four-bet to 25,000 from the button, Drinan five-bet to 54,000 from the small blind, and both Akkari and Hunichen folded. Buonanno made the call and then called a bet of 42,000 on the {2-}{6-}{7-} flop.

A {4-} turn saw Drinan moved all in for 155,000, and Buonanno, who had a bit less, called off with pocket jacks. Unfortunately for him, it was no good as Drinan held ladies. The river was a blank, and Buonanno busted.

Vogt Keeps on Firing

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Rasmus Vogt
Rasmus Vogt

Action folded to EPT12 Barcelona High Roller champ Martin Finger on the button and he raised to 5,000. Rasmus Vogt, who qualified in last night's €3,000 satellite, then three-bet to 15,500 from the small blind. After the big folded, Finger called and watched the flop come down {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Vogt bet 16,500, Finger called, and the {8-Spades} appeared on the turn. Vogt bet again, this time 30,500, and Finger came along to see the {Q-Clubs} river. Vogt proceeded to bet 51,000, and a frustrated-looking Martin sent his cards to the muck.

Zinno Hits His Flush

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Philip Sternheimer opened for 5,500 and his next door neighbor Anthony Zinno made a rather small three bet to 9,000. Vladimir Troyanovskiy cold called from the small blind and Sternheimer called as well.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Troyanovskiy and Sternheimer checked. Zinno made a bet of 25,000 and Troyanovskiy folded, Sternheimer called. Both players checked the {2-Diamonds} on the turn and the {8-Diamonds} hit the river. Sternheimer checked a third time and Zinno bet 26,000. Sternheimer called, but mucked after being shown {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for the rivered flush for Zinno.

In unrelated news, Scott Seiver was just eliminated and bought right back in, only to draw the exact same seat he left from minutes ago.

Mateos Busts; Promptly Reenters

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With around 20,000 in the pot and a flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Scott Seiver bet 5,000 from middle position and Adrian Mateos called from the hijack. Mike McDonald folded from the cutoff, and it was heads-up action to the {3-Spades} turn. Seiver bet again, this time 13,200, and Mateos responded by raising all in for 46,500. Seiver didn't seem thrilled, but made the call nonetheless.

Seiver: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Mateos: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Seiver was ahead, but needed to dodge a spade to take the pot. That's just what he did too as the {8-Hearts} blanked on the river. Mateos was eliminated on the hand, but promptly made his way to the registration desk to reenter.

Carrel Second to Fall

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Action folded to Nick Petrangelo in the cutoff and he opened for 4,000. EPT11 Grand Final €25,000 High Roller champ Charlie Carrel then three-bet to 10,000 from the button, which inspired both blinds to fold.

With action back on Petrangelo, he four-bet to 27,000 and wasted little time in calling when Carrel shipped for approximately 95,000. Carrel tabled {a-}{9-} offsuit, but it was no good as Petrangelo held the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. The board ran out clean, and Carrel quickly collected his things before making a beeline for the exit.

Not a Good Start for Kenney

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Daniel Dvoress opened for 4,800 from early position and Justin Liberto on the button and Bryn Kenney in the big blind both called.

Kenney checked to Dvoress on {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and the Canadian pro made a bet of 7,500. Both Liberto and Kenney called. The {A-Clubs} fell on the turn and Kenney now lead out 21,600. Dvoress folded, Liberto called. The {9-Hearts} fell on the river and Kenney bet out 52,300. Liberto tanked for a bit and called. Kenney showed {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, Liberto tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and started stacking.

Snowmen for Buonanno

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With around 12,000 in the pot and a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Antonio Buonanno checked from the small blind and Sean Winter did the same from the big. Thomas Muehloecker then bet 7,500 from the under-the-gun position, Buonanno called, and Winter took his time before doing the same. All three players then checked the {Q-Spades} turn, and the {Q-Hearts} paired the board on the river.

Buonanno checked, Winter fired 15,500, and Muehloecker got out of the way. Buonanno put in the chips to call, and he was glad he did as his {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} bested the {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} of Winter.
