Poker Legend Joins the Tournament

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Jude Ainsworth opened for 350 from middle position and Andriy Lyubovetskiy called from the cutoff. Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker came along from the button, and then the Netherlands' Jans Arends three-bet to 1,850 from the big blind. Ainsworth folded, Lyubovetskiy called, and Moneymaker got out of the way to make it heads-up action to the {9-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Spades} flop. Arends checked, Lyubovetskiy bet 2,300, and Arends snap-folded.

It wasn't much of a hand, but it gave us an excuse to let you know Moneymaker is in the house!

Juanda Looking for Even More EPT Success

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

EPT12 Barcelona champ John Juanda, who was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame last month, is looking to follow up his eighth-place finish in the €50,000 Super High Roller yesterday with a run in the Main Event, which for him begins here on Day 1b.

In a recent hand, there was approximately 2,500 in the pot and a board reading {7-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} when Germany's Anton Beno bet 1,100 from the under-the-gun position and Juanda, who was donning a medical mask and getting a massage, called from middle position.

When the {2-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Beno slowed down with a check but still called when Juanda bet 2,250. Juanda tabled the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for top pair, and it was good as Beno sent his hand to the muck.

Mumtaz and Popovych Chop It Up

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Chris Moneymaker raised to 400 in early position, Asim Mumtaz called from the next seat along before Serhii Popovych called from the cutoff. Jude Ainsworth called in the big blind to make it four-handed to the {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop.

All four players checked before checking to Popovych on the {4-Hearts} turn. Ainsworth folded to the 900 bet, but the other players called.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and all three players checked. Moneymaker showed {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and lost to the {A-Spades}{9-Hearts} and {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} of Mumtaz and Popovych who chopped the pot.

A Nice Bluff Even For You

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Everyone folded to Julian Thomas on the button and he raised to 600. Francis-Nicolas Bouchard was in the small blind and he three-bet to 1,400. The big blind got out of the way, but Thomas called.

Bouchard led for 2,000 on the {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, Thomas checked his cards before sending them back to the deal.

"A nice bluff, even for you," joked Thomas as Bouchard restacked his chips.

Update on a Couple Team PokerStars Pros

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

With around 5,000 in the pot and a board reading {q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, Ukraine's Andriy Lyubovetskiy bet 2,800 from the cutoff into Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker on the button. The 2003 World Series of Poker champ, who recently turned 40, gave it some thought but ultimately released his hand.

Meanwhile, one table over, fellow Team Pro Jake Cody checked from the cutoff with around 6,000 in the pot and a flop reading {k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. His opponent, former PCA champ Dimitar Danchev, bet 2,700 from the button, and it did the trick as Cody gave it up.
