Day 1c Completed
Day 1c of the €1,100 PokerStars France Poker Series Main Event running as part of the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo ended in dramatic fashion as an incredible one-outer wrapped up proceedings, to see 149 more players advance to Day 2.
Yves Piacentino could only look on in horror as his set of queens were usurped by Tommy Alm Bo, who rivered quad fives, causing pandemonium inside Sporting Monte-Carlo.
While the poker gods dished out penance to Piacentino, they smiled upon Vladimir Erceg who ended the starting flight as chip leader. The Serbian ended up with a stack of 762,000, partly thanks to rivering a set of sixes against Jensen Bernard that saw him shoot up the counts.
Kevin Tedesco (699,000) was the only other player to finish near the 700,000 mark, with WSOP bracelet winner Stephen Nahm (644,000) rounding out the top three chip counts.
PokerStars Team Pro and 2023 EPT Barcelona Main Event champion Simon Wiciak (190,000) was also among those to navigate the first hurdle but the same could not be said for the likes of fellow Team Pros Fintan Hand and Parker Talbot, who crashed out late in the night.
Wiciak joins Felix Schneiders and Lasse Jagd Lauritsen as the only players representing the Spadie brand. Schneiders qualified from Day 1a, while Lauritsen survived the Day 1d Turbo flight.

After that insane bubble hand, Day 1c has closed, with 149 advancing to Day 2.
Chip counts and a full's day recap will be available shortly, alongside the link to the Day 2 seat draw.
Heads-up on a flop of 5♦Q♣10♦, Yves Piacentino was all in for 120,000 from middle position and Tommy Alm Bo put him at risk in early position.
Yves Piacentino: Q♥Q♦
Tommy Alm Bo: 5♣5♥
Piacentino was on the right side of a set-over-set cooler as the large crowd that gathered around the table began calling for a five. The turn was the J♠, while the 5♠ came on the river and a loud cheer erupted from the room as Alm Bo spiked quads to burst the bubble.
Piacentino shot away from the table in disgust before returning to exchange a fist bump with Alm Bo.
The remaining 149 players are now in the money and bagging up for the night.

Hand-for-hand play has begun as Day 1c is on the stone bubble. 150 players remain, with play stopping when one more player exits.
Olivier Murrachioli was all in for 105,000 from the hijack, Fabrice Bigot shoved for his last 90,000 on the button, and George Tomescu had both opponents covered and at risk in early position.
Fabrice Bigot: A♠K♠
Olivier Murrachioli: A♦A♥
George Tomescu: A♣K♥
Murrachioli was poised to take the three-way all in with his aces as the flop came Q♠K♦7♦. The turn, though, was the K♣ and both Bigot and Tomescu caught the last king in the deck to make trips.
The river was the 3♠ and Tomescu and Bigot split the pot while Murrachioli stopped to snap a photo of the board before heading for the exit.
"I think this is some of the most disgusting stuff I've seen. I think it's worse than aces over aces," Bigot said.

Ilan Cohen opened to 20,000 from middle position and called off the 50,000 he had behind after Christian Alilovic jammed as the big stack from the big blind.
Ilan Cohen: Q♥10♥
Christian Alilovic: A♥9♠
The 9♦8♦5♠2♣5♣ runout was no good for Cohen and he was ousted late on in the night.
