Watson Picks Up a Pot

Juanda raised to 49,000 and this time Michael Watson announced all in for 348,000. Juanda looked very serious. Watson stared at the felt and slid his cards around the table behind the all-in stack in front of him. Juanda started working out how much he would have left if he called -- it would be around 340,000.

Eventually he folded, and showed a rather lacklustre {A-Diamonds} {6-Spades}.

Michael Watson Doubles Through Jason Mercier

With just 164,000, Michael Watson was in desperate need of a double-through and eagerly searching for spots to push. That moment came on the button, where he slid his entire stack over the line with {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Taking the blinds uncontested would have been a fine result, but a stubborn Jason Mercier had other ideas and made the call with {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} from the small blind.

The {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was a cracking turn-out for Watson who had his man drawing to just two outs. A {J-Hearts} turn and {8-Hearts} river was too little too late for the San Remo EPT champion and Sherlock Holmes' sidekick doubled through.

Mercier Takes One Down From the Small Blind

To a commentary from Daniel Negreanu explaining why one shouldn't raise from the small blind, Jason Mercier raised from the small blind. Juanda in the big blind called him and they saw a {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} flop, which they both checked.

Mercier bet out 65,000 on the {10-Hearts} turn and Juanda called, but both players checked the {3-Spades} river. Mercier turned over {K-?} {Q-?} for top pair, and Juanda mucked.

Peter Jetten Eliminated in 4th Place (£189,000)

How much for 4th place again?
How much for 4th place again?
Jetten button-raised to 42,000, only for Jason Mercier to move all in from the big blind for his 400,000+, covering Jetten. With barely a pause for thought, Jetten called. Nothing premium for either, but it's a race.

Mercier: {2-Spades} {2-Hearts}
Jetten: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}

Board: an incredibly exciting {Q-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Thus Peter Jetten, our chip leader going into the final table, is Jetten into the waiting arms of Kara Scott and the EPT Live camera crew, and we continue three-handed.

Power Play

John Juanda is attacking opponents like Chris Ferguson attacks a carrot. Seated on the button, Juanda made a small all-in raise to the tune of 771,000, thus putting Peter Jetten and Michael Watson to the test for their tournament lives. Both players conceded their hands.
