Michael Watson Doubles Through Jason Mercier

With just 164,000, Michael Watson was in desperate need of a double-through and eagerly searching for spots to push. That moment came on the button, where he slid his entire stack over the line with {Q-Hearts}

. Taking the blinds uncontested would have been a fine result, but a stubborn Jason Mercier had other ideas and made the call with {A-Diamonds}

from the small blind.

To a commentary from Daniel Negreanu explaining why one shouldn't raise from the small blind, Jason Mercier raised from the small blind. Juanda in the big blind called him and they saw a {4-Hearts}

flop, which they both checked.

Mercier bet out 65,000 on the {10-Hearts}

turn and Juanda called, but both players checked the {3-Spades}

river. Mercier turned over {K-?}

for top pair, and Juanda mucked.
