The Longest Day

High Roller Tournament Room
High Roller Tournament Room

The €10,300 High Roller shattered all records yesterday, the que for registration was longer than the buffet line at times. A total of 378 entries were made on the first day of play, and 176 players made it through to Day 2.

We'll surely see the numbers climb even more, as registration is still open and players are able to sign up or re enter till 11:45 a.m. local time.

As soon as registration closes, we'll have a table draw and hopefully a prize pool for you. One thing is for sure though; today is going to be a long one. Expect a lot of levels to be played, as the goal is to reach a final table of 8. With a minimum of 176 players still in contention, that might be proved to be hard to reach, even last year the tournament stopped with still 9 players in contention after day 2.

Stephen Chidwick is in the lead right now, but it's a long road to the money and final table. PokerNews will be here the entire day to supply you with all the updates you can wish for. With a field full of stars like this, it shouldn't be too hard to find interesting spots to blog about. Stay tuned, as the tournament starts in a little under two hours (noon local time).

Two More Entries

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

At least two new players just entered the event, grabbing their tickets minutes before play started. Ami Barer was first, and Jason Wheeler was right behind him.

"I could've bought a lot of my medicine for this, I must say" Wheeler said with a big smile while he handed over his payment slip.

An American and Canadian added to the tournament, 178 players in the field as of now.

Brummelhuis Busts Nadal

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In one of the first hands of the day, Michiel Brummelhuis eliminated Jose Manuel Nadal. Brummelhuis, seated in the small blind, three bet, and called Manuel Nadal's hijack shove with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. Nadal had {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and was drawing dead by the time the turn was out there: {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Wilinofsky Busts Zumkehr

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Ben Wilinofsky opened for 4,500 from early position, and Gert Zumkehr shoved all in from the button for 20,700. Wilinofsky thought about it for a bit, and eventually called.

Zumkehr had the best hand with {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}, "Flushdraw thought" said Ryan Fee after Wilinofsky showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The diamonds would mostly stay in the deck, but the nine on the flop helped Wilinofsky just as much: {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

Checking in on the November Niners

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Three of the 2014 World Series of Poker November Niners are in the field here on Day 2, with Martin Jacobson, Andoni Larrabe, and Bruno Politano.

Jacobson has improved to 220,000 after some early success here on Day 2, and the other two, Politano and Larrabe, are sitting on 80,000 and 35,000, respectively. One interesting note is that Politano and Larrabe are currently seated at the same table.
