Cheong Dozing Off while Helppi and Vieira Clash in Five-Bet Pot

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

As we were ready to walk back up to the media room as the break had just started, we stopped by the last table as action was still going on between Joao Vieira and Juha Helppi. In what turned out to be a five-bet pot Vieira had 71,300 in front of him acting out of the small blind position. Helppi thought about it for some time before calling in the cutoff.

The {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} contained at least one card interesting both players. The clock ticked away well into the break and Vieira bet out 33,000. Helppi called after some thinking of his own, and the dealer put the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn. Vieira now checked, and folded after Helppi bet out 50,000.

You could tell by Helppi's smile that something was going on. Vieira asked if Helppi didn't maybe want to show his cards. At first Helppi was resistent, but eventually he let Vieira pick one card. Vieira chose one of the cards and Helppi showed the {J-Clubs} with a big grin on his face.

The hand was interesting, but it did take a while to finish...

Joseph CheongWatching a hand go into break at my table where each bet has averaged 2 minutes of thought beforehand. It was 5 bet preflop so zzz

Joseph CheongActually dozed off for about 2 minutes between the 4th and 5th bet

Chidwick Wins Big

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Stephen Chidwick Leads The Pack
Stephen Chidwick Leads The Pack

With around 40,000 in chips in the pot and the flop reading {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Stephen Chidwick checked his option from the small blind. Christoph Vogelsang bet out 17,000 from the cut off and was called.

The {8-Hearts} on the turn saw Chidwick check again prompting Vogelsang to reach for his chips and slide out another 45,000. Chidwick thought for a minute before making the call before the dealer produced the {2-Clubs} on the river.

Chidwick checked one last time sending Vogelsang into the tank. A minute passed before he moved all in for around 250,000 in chips and was instantly called.

Vogelsang turned over his {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a missed straight before Chidwick tabled his {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a set and the winning hand.

Chidwick had Vogelsang covered on the river and moves up to 770,000 in chips following the hand.

Mizzi Busts Delgado

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Vicente Delgado - Busted
Vicente Delgado - Busted

Vicente Delgado raised and two further players including Sorel Mizzi in the big blind called. The Canadian bet 10,000 on the {3-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {4-Spades} flop and Delgado raised to 28,000, Mizzi called to see the {J-Spades} on the turn. The Canadian now fired 45,000 and Delgado checked his stack carefully before making the call with approximately 80,000 chips behind.

The {10-Diamonds} on the river triggered the all in bet of Mizzi with the superior stack and Delgado called off before mucking his cards when he was shown {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} for two pair by Mizzi.

Sointula Doesn't Do It

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a flop of {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} we saw Stephen Chidwick bet out 8,500 from the under-the-gun position. Since it's a 5-handed table, Jani Sointula on the button wasn't far away. The long time grinding Fin made the call and the {8-Clubs} popped up on the river. Chidwick checked and Sointula bet out 13,000. Chidwick took his time before raising to 31,000. Sointula called.

The {10-Spades} completed the board and Chidwick bet out 300,000, effectively putting Sointula to the test for his remaining 90,000. After some hefty thinking, while table mates Vogelsang, Schemion and Adams discussed a hand played not long ago (where Adams folded and Vogelsang claimed he had aces), Sointula folded.
