Watson Doubled on the Second Hand!

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

A dream start for Mike Watson as he doubled up the second hand.

He started with less than ten big blinds and had no time to hang around. He was under the gun and moved all in and was called by Scott Seiver in the big blind.

Watson: {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Seiver: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} to pair Watson's jack on the river.

Watson: {9-Spades}{7-Spades}
Adams: {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

First Battle Between Mizzi and Mercier

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Sorel Mizzi and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier were very likely to play a lot of hands against each other and we just saw the first of many.

Mercier raised to 100,000 under the gun plus one with {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Mizzi called from the big blind with {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Mizzi check-called 90,000. On the turn the {8-Diamonds} hit and both players checked. The river brought out the {6-Hearts} and Mercier folded to Mizzi's 100,000-chip bet.

Two in a Row for Mizzi

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Sorel Mizzi is starting to make his mark on the final after winning two pots in a row. He three-bet Mike Watson off a hand pre flop and then he took a bigger one off Max Altergott.

Mizzi raised to 100,000 from the cut-off and Altergott defended from the big blind to see a {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop. Both players checked to the {5-Hearts} turn where Altergott led for 125,000. Call.

On the river, Altergott check-folded to a 280,000 bet from Mizzi.

It was the correct fold as Mizzi's {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} was ahead of his opponent's {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.

Troyanovsky: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Seiver: {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Seiver doubled up.

Mercier Loses Million-Chip Pot

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Jason Mercier's stack has suffered the first big dent to his stack after a battle in the blinds with Vladimir Troyanovsky.

The latter raised to 100,000 from the small blind and Mercier peeled to see a {4-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop. Troyanovsky led for 100,000 and the Team PokerStars called to the {j-Diamonds} turn where his oppoenent checked to him. He took the invitation to bet by sliding 270,000 forward. Call.

Both players checked the {q-Spades} river and Troyanovsky's {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} bettered Mercier's {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}. He dropped to around 3.3 million whereas the Russian is up to 2.2 million.

Mercier Loses Another

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier raised to 130,000 from the small blind and Max Altergott called from the big blind. The flop brought out {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Mercier bet 105,000, Altergott called.

On the turn the {9-Hearts} hit and both players checked. The river brought the {6-Clubs} and again the action was checked. Mercier showed {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and that was not enough against Altergott's {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.
