Last edition's Main Event champion Steve O'Dwyer is in the field, and he is sitting on the very chair that he won the trophy on after taking said chair home in 2022. The chair has supposed lucky qualities, but those are yet to appear so far today.
In the latest hand O'Dwyer played, David O'Kelly limped from under the gun, small blind Fintan Hand completed, and O'Dwyer checked his option in the big blind.
The flop came down and the action checked to O'Kelly, who put out a bet of 600. Hand got out of the way but O'Dwyer stuck around and made the call.
The turn saw O'Dwyer check-raise the 1,500 bet from O'Kelly to 4,500. O'Kelly swiftly called and the pair checked down the turn.
O'Dwyer could only show missed draws with , while O'Kelly flopped a set with . No presents yet for O'Dwyer, whose birthday also happens to be today.
Ian Drake raised from middle position and picked up calls from Remo Marto on the button and Thomas Channell in the big blind.
The flop came . Action checked to Thomas Channell, who made the bet. He was called by Ian Drake and two players went to the turn, which came the . Channell checked and Drake bet 3,200, which Channell called.
The river was the . Channell checked once more and Drake pushed all in for his remaining 20,000 chips, staring across the table at his opponent.
"What have you got, ?", asked Channell before making the fold. He wasn't far off. Drake showed for the bluff.
"I'll give you £400 not to put that in the blog," said Channell.
